Rare 1968 Chevrolet Chevy Longhorn 3/4 Ton C-20 Pickup Truck C-10 C/k Gmc Gm on 2040-cars
Grants Pass, Oregon, United States
Vehicle Title:Clear
Trim: Camper Special
Make: Chevrolet
Model: Other Pickups
Drive Type: RWD
Mileage: 0
This is a rare 1968 Chevrolet Longhorn 3/4 ton 2WD pickup truck. This truck originally came with a 327 but now has a 350 with approximately 20,000 miles on it. It runs excellent and the original 400 Turbo-hydramatic trans works smoothly.I do have an original 1968 truck 327 that I will sell if interested.
This truck came equip with factory power brakes ( I do have the original PB and will include them in this auction) but they have been replaced with manual brakes. Brakes work great.
In 1968,the Longhorn model debuted on 3/4 ton trucks. These have a 133" wheelbase.... identical to the one ton vehicles, and an extra 6" was added to the bed. Longhorns, were 2wd only; no factory Longhorn 4x4 were built. These trucks are extra heavy duty with leaf spring/coil rear-ends. Because these were designed to carry larger loads than other pickups, it’s been engineered for extra support and better balance all along its 133 inch wheelbase. Its rear suspension, for instance, is built around tough two stage leaf springs for steadier going and surer handling.’ (Coil spring front suspension teams with the rear leaf springs.)You can haul an 11 foot camper and with the bumper that slides out another 3', you can pull your boat and have easy access to your spare tire if you get a flat as the bumper opens up as well.
All sheet metal is in very SOLID condition with NO rust in the usual places and very minor surface rust here and there. This was painted years ago and was NOT painted over rust or bondo.
The bed of the truck has the original wood bed that appears to be in good condition... custom diamond plating was installed over the original bed floor. The chrome was removed to begin a restoration but unfortunately, has since been lost. All glass is good and everything opens and closes like it should. This truck came with 3 factory fuel tanks, bucket seats, and A/C. Seats were replaced with a bench seat (I have original 1968 bucket seats that came out of a 1-ton truck that I will sell if interested...needs reupholstered) and A/C was removed. I'm not sure about the gearing but it is high geared and will go 70 MPH easy on the freeway.Tires have approximately 70% tread left. Will make a road trip...no problem.
This a very nice daily driver or an EXCELLENT SOLID truck to restore.
Please don't bid unless you have more than 10 positive feedback or bid will be removed.
I wanted to include that I do have most of the original A/C parts but not all... I will include these parts with the truck to the winning bidder.
To clarify some of the questions about this truck.... This is a 1968 Chevrolet Custom Camper Longhorn 2wd 3/4 Ton Pickup that originally came with a 327, bucket seats, A/C, power brakes, & 3 fuel tanks. I do have a factory 1968 truck 327 (NOT the original)...needs rebuilt that I will sell...I have buckets seats for this truck...they need upholstered...I will sell. Lastly, I have the original factory power brakes that will be included with the truck to the winning bidder. This is a beautiful solid truck that has been taken care of and is in excellent condition for this type truck. The collector will appreciate this one.

Chevrolet Camaros at SEMA are a mobile accessory catalog
Wed, 06 Nov 2013Chevy's goal at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this week seems to be to show as much of its Performance and Accessories catalog as possible. That's why it brought three different Camaros - two with V8s and one powered by a V6 - with all of the best goodies from the catalog already fitted.
We gave a more in-depth recap of the Performance Camaro V8 Concept, the Performance Camaro V6 Concept and the Performance Garage Concept already, but we figured you'd like a short recap for each. It should be noted, though, that you can order all of the items you see here for your own Camaro, so be sure to take a long, hard look at our live galleries, just in case you're in the market for some mods.
Essentially, the Performance Garage Concept and the Performance V8 Concept are the same car - the only difference is that the later features a whole host of aesthetic tweaks in addition to its aftermarket, shorty exhaust headers and 2.75-inch exhaust. (The Performance Garage Concept has been usefully placed on its side; the better to see the new parts added to the vehicle.) The Performance V6 Concept is notable because, despite being a V6, there's no shortage of performance goodies fitted. All three of the Performance Camaros benefit from items from the Camaro ZL1, which can also be ordered through the catalog.
More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1
Thu, 28 Feb 2013During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.
Kurt Busch to shake and bake (again) in Ricky Bobby car at Talladega
Sat, 19 Oct 2013Kurt Busch will channel Ricky Bobby for another NASCAR race, this time driving a Wonder-sponsored Chevrolet SS, in this weekend's Camping World RV Sales 500 at the Talladega Motor Speedway. Unlike past tie-ins, though, there's actually an element of sponsorship here (the "Me" car was done when Busch was running on a team without sponsorship).
It was arranged by Flower Foods, the new owner of the Wonder brand. Wonder was part of the bankrupt Hostess company, which temporarily exited the US market 2012, and set off the Great Twinkie Shortage.
Busch has made something of a habit of channeling characters from famous racing movies, most recently running Tom Cruise's City Chevrolet livery from Days of Thunder in a Nationwide Series race earlier this year. Busch kicked off his movie-inspired antics, though, at Talladega in 2012, when he raced El Diablo's ("It's like... Spanish for like a fighting chicken") "Me" car complete with a cougar on the hood. He even went so far as to channel the lovable idiot that is Ricky Bobby during the race, dropping a few catchphrases about macchiatos and slingshots.
