Up for auction is a Solid old 1960 Chevy Apache C-20 Pickup in a fleetside. Have 50 more detailed photos of cab/motor/under the truck if you e-mail I can give the link. Selling for a  very good old friend that live a couple hundred miles west of omaha. Truck is in the Omaha, Ne. area. Truck runs and drives and stops with a few pumps of the brake. Has a few newer brake lines also.  Truck has some dents and such, but is really very solid rust wise for it's age. Mileage is at 71,XXX and is shows exempt on the title, but it's original. Acquired at an Estate Auction from the original owners relatives maybe 15 years ago. Here are a few specifics. Mostly original and in great shape.  Fuel tank, radiator are new, have the originals that go with the truck as well. Tank is repro and the rad is aluminum. Generator is newer, has new split exhaust manifolds and new exhaust without mufflers. Wheels on back are 16" and not original but have the two rear original wheels in the back of the truck. All windows/wing and doors work fine roll up and down, and doors lock. Passenger door glass has small crack but is solid, all the other glass is good.Original keys lock the glove box, lock the passenger door and start the truck Floor rubber mat is in really good shape.. all of the lights work with the exception of 1 parking taillight on one side and 1 turn signal on the other. 1 headlight on bright is not working either. Brake lights work, Dash lights, and under the dash lights work on both sides and the cab dome light functions when door opens on drivers side. Hood parking/turn signal lights work. This is a C-20 with a stick emergency brake lever which I was told is unusual. Brake is not working. Bed has wood boards over top of original and repaired wood but is solid to use. The seat is not original to the truck and is setting in the truck over the the one stud on pass side. Seat is ok, but not original. Has a couple seat mounting bolts broke, or cut flush on drivers side. Should tap right out. Truck sounds like and old hot rod/stock car sorta without the mufflers. Valve cover and intake is painted red but are original to the truck. Could use shocks, and a little cleaning around the motor of grease that has accumulated. I have putted the truck around here and there close by and she runs decent and could be a daily drive with very little work I think. The other side is the truck is in super cond. to restore and  great looking model. If I get a chance before auction end I may try and bleed the system to see what kind of pedal I can get but no guarantee I'll have time. I live on ten acres so a person could drive the truck around here or ? up the road a little ways, but consider towing this truck. That's all I know and truck is a great restore candidate for sure. Also owner is hunting for two rear caps that go to this truck, but don't have them in hand just yet This truck was used on the farm and driven everywhere until last fall it was parked due to the rediator. Did I mention the original rad, and fuel tank is here with the truck. I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking. Here are a few pics and have 40 more to view at photo bucket   Thanks, E-mail with any questions because I'm sure I forgot something. Truck is described fairly well in my opinion, buy id 53 years old.  Truck is sold where is as is. I will help any way I can with shipping, or pickup of this truck, but buyer is responsible for arrangements and fees. Could deliver within 200 miles for a fee. Low low reserve set.  Thanks,  Plummerswife                  Have 50 more photos to view at photo bucket if you e-mail I can send you the link.  Thanks

Hi, To answer a couple questions that I have received: The truck runs and drives real well and starts up with just a tap of the key. Other than the brake bleeding and the shocks that really won't make or break the running part this truck drives down the road great and steers well at 55-60 MPH. I'm only describing thing to be completely accurate.  I suggested towing because I have'nt driven the truck enough myself to say it's whole heartedly reliable without bleeding the brakes and slowly stretching her wings.  Thanks and feel free to E-mail and ask any questions.   Plummerswife

GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say

Fri, 05 Apr 2013

The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.

Toyota tops Kelley Blue Book's Resale Value Awards

Tue, 27 Nov 2012

Kelley Blue Book announced its annual Best Resale Value Award winners, and we weren't too surprised to see the list dominated by Japanese automakers - mainly Toyota and Honda. KBB hands out the awards based on the projected residual value of mostly all 2013 model year vehicles, and Toyota skated home with a number of awards including 10 of the 22 overall categories and having five of its products in the top 10 for models with best resale value. KBB's Best Resale Value Awards were announced in the same week as the ALG Residual Value Awards, and there were many similarities between both lists, especially when it came to Toyota.
To come up with its winners, KBB measures depreciation over the first five years of ownership, and looks for the cars it expects to hold its value the best after this time; on average, the report says the 2013 model year vehicles will lose 61.8 percent of its value in five years. Of the 22 categories, 15 slots were filled by Toyota, Honda and Nissan products, while the Camaro and Porsche (Cayenne and Panamera) each took home a pair of awards. If Toyota has anything to be upset about in this list of cars, it's that categories for Hybrid/Alternative Energy Car and Electric Vehicle went to the Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Volt, respectively.
The overall top 10 models for the best resale value in 2013 are, in alphabetical order:

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.
