You are bidding on a 1956 Chevrolet Pickup. I bought this as a project about 10 years ago and never got it finished. It has been in storage for a long time. This truck is not a project for an inexperienced individual. It needs a lot of work but will make a very good truck. The body is very straight with very little rust. It does have a small amount in the steps and a small amount in the front fenders. The bed is very nice but the floor is gone. It is in mock up stage right now with everything sitting in place. It needs to be taken back apart and the frame painted and body work done. Then reassembled. I do have the original front seat, front and rear chrome bumpers in decent shape and a few other small pieces. There are no door glasses or dash instruments. I replaced the original front suspension with a 1980 Chevy pickup front clip. If you look at the frame where it is put together, it would be very hard to tell that it is not a factory frame. The rear-end is also a Chevy pickup 12-bolt and I was going to use all other components from that style of truck. The truck rolls but there is no motor or transmission included. I have currently a 427 block and 400 turbo sitting in it but I am going to take it out. It is being sold with a bill of sale only. That means there is no title and I have never had one. It was lost many years ago. What you see in the pictures is what you are buying with the exception of the other items I mentioned. No more or less. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Consumer Reports criticizes small turbo engines for misleading performance, fuel economy claims [w/video]
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Consumer Reports has taken aim at at small-displacement, forced-induction engines, saying the powerplants don't manage to deliver on automaker fuel economy claims. Manufacturers have long held that smaller, turbocharged engines pack all power of their larger displacement cousins with significantly better fuel economy, but the research organization says that despite scoring high EPA economy numbers, the engines are no better than conventional drivetrains in both categories. Jake Fisher, director of automotive testing for Consumer Reports, says the forced induction options "are often slower and less fuel efficient than larger four and six-cylinder engines."
Specifically, CR calls out the new Ford Fusion equipped with the automaker's Ecoboost 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine. The institute's researchers found the engine, which is a $795 option over the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder, fails to match competitors in acceleration and served up 25 miles per gallon in testing, putting the sedan dead last among other midsize options.
The Chevrolet Cruze, Hyundai Sonata Turbo and Ford Escape 2.0T all got dinged for the same troubles, though Consumer Reports has found the turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the BMW 328i does deliver on its promises. 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray order guide hits the web
Mon, 15 Apr 2013The official debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is only part of the excitement for fans of Chevy's virtuoso sportscar. Although we got to see the car and some of its preliminary specs in Detroit and Geneva, there is still no word on pricing and some of the juicier data points we've been waiting for - such as confirmed power output, EPA estimated mileage figures and performance numbers. Until then, CorvetteBlogger has gotten its hands on the order guide for the coupe version of the car - in both base and Z51 iterations - revealing tidbits like standard and optional features and available color combinations.
Some other new details made it onto the order guide, such as our first interior specs for the coupe including slightly less hip room and headroom, more shoulder room and the same amount of legroom. Mon, 27 May 2013If the 2013 Indy 500 were a movie it would be the one expected to win all the little statues come awards season, and if it were an athlete it would have made spectators watch in awe as it broke record after record. And this kind of talk comes after last year's race was considered one of the best ever - the last lap hijinks in 2012 and Takuma Sato's crash leading to a podium ceremony straight out of a Golden Globes tearjerker.
