For sale is my 1950 Chevy 3 window pickup.  I purchased the vehicle in 2007 from California and have been restoring it slowly ever since.  The truck has everything to be completed, it is just now all on right now.  The only major things left to do is finish some bodywork and some of the interior.

BODY-The truck is rust free California bought.  The door handles have been shaved and filled.  Front cowl vent and side vent shaved and filled.  Shaved drip rails around window.  Outer window trim welded to make windows look like one piece and really clean.  Shaved fuel filler.  Check out the truck at creativerodandkustom.com and you will see what I was going for.  Bear Claw latches installed on doors.  Doors close and latch perfectly.  Door poppers installed and were tested.  Also has safety wire installed so you can pull on latch from outside if keys left in truck.  Front fenders have been body worked, headlights frenched in with chrome ring, and primered.  Only thing left to do is block and paint.  Rear fenders are wider, I believe by two inches, and are fiberglass.  Also have fiberglass running boards that go with the rear fenders.  Bed sides are original.  Stake pockets have been filled along with the end of the stake pockets at the rear.  New front bed panel and rear tailgate with emblem installed.  Tailgate has been custom welded to rear of bed for seamless look.  Welding is complete and finish bodywork and paint needed to complete.  New front bumper and grill.  New headlights and marker lights.  New exterior mirrors.  New rear bumper from 1954 Chevy.  This bumper has the "step" in the middle and I think looks better.  Rear bumper has also been moved in approx. 3 inches so it fits closer to truck and gets rid of the farm truck look.  Also has extended apron with LED tail lights.  One light cut out and other needs trimming.  Custom 7 piece wood bed kit with strips.  Looks great and all boards are almost the same size, gets rid of the small boards in most kits.  Wood kit cost around $400 and will just need staining.  Aluminum gas tank moved under bed.  Two hoods, one stock and one that has the two halves custom welded to make a one piece hood with no trim.

SUSPENSION- TCI Mustang II Crossmember welded in.  It came with 2 inch lowered springs and disk brakes.  I removed the front springs and set it up with Shockwaves in the front.  I still have the lowered springs which will go with the truck.  The disk brakes are power with the master cylinder and booster installed on the frame like original with gives more room in the engine bay.  Rebuilt drum brakes on rear 10 bolt.  8.5 inch with 3.23 gearing.  Power rack and pinion steering.  Brand new front sway bar and all new upgraded bushings installed when front end installed.  Everything is brand new.  It has even had a front end alignment done.  4 link rear suspension with air bags.  Crossmembers welded in.  I have complete plug and play kit for the air bags.  NOT INSTALLED YET.  Have everything to install, air lines, fittings, digital air control gauge and manual gauge-you pick which to install.

ENGINE-Rebuilt 383 Chevy V8.  I bought the engine from a builder in Arizona and installed it.  The engine has tons of torque.  New polished pulleys.  Rebuilt 700R4 Automatic transmission.  The overdrive is really nice to keep the RPM's down.  Like driving a new truck with way more rumble.  The firewall was cleaned up and years of useless holes were filled.  Vintage Air condition kit installed.  Is not charged at this time.  Rebuilt radiator.  I had a radiator guy build it a few years ago.  He used an older heavy duty core.  The entire thing was gone through with all new parts.  He also installed a heavy duty transmission cooler in the radiator.  He didn't care for the "Chinese copy" that I had installed that began to leak.  He really knew his stuff and I bought in on it, around $700 for the set up.  Also has custom bowtie emblem on top.  All new hoses.  Have electric and standard fuel pump, neither installed right now.  Electric fan with thermostat.  Air gap intake-endurashine, Edelbrock 750 with electric choke.  Polished valve covers and cleaner.  Coated headers with flowmaster mufflers.   New driveline.  Much more, only the best stuff used.

INTERIOR-New dash shell installed.  Have new glovebox door and center piece.  New Dolphin Speedo and four gauge for fuel, oil, temp, battery.  New column tilt shifter.  New door panels and headliner shell from Rod doors.  I bought the kit a few years ago.  The company went out of business, but you can still find pictures of the door panels on the web.  They are made out of a hard plastic and will just need to be covered in the material the buyer will want.  The headliner is made from fiberglass.  Have all window stainless and headliner stainless.  New ignition switch.  Painless Wiring kit.  Wiring kit is installed and ran.  Wires going to back still needed to be connected to lights, gas tank, ect when everything is put back in.  The stock seat frame was cut out and a bench seat from I believe a second row suburban was installed.  I still have the stock bench, which will go with the truck.  Both are in dark gray cloth in decent shape.  One piece front windshield.  New rubber seals for windows and doors.  This is a three window truck.  New wiper motor.  New power window kit with aluminum switches.  Other new things that will probably come to me after I post this.

15 Inch tires on it right now.  Tires still have good tread and will last for awhile.  I have most if not all of the parts to put this truck back together.  I have boxes of new parts.  All major things are included with truck.  Small things like cigarette lighter or dome light may be needed.  Please send me a message or call if you have a specific question or want to know about something I didn't list.

My loss is your gain.  This is the opportunity for someone to take what has been started and turn this into a show truck or just put it back together and drive it as is.  I really love this truck and I have invested a lot of money and time into it.  I am selling it because when it was purchased, I thought it would be completed by now.  At that time, it would have been for fine for me, my wife, and kid in car seat.  It was a tight fit, but it worked for short trips.  The kid is now in a booster seat and we added another in a baby seat.  Unfortunately, it this was just for me it would be great.

I also know the value of these trucks and what I have in this one.  I think the price is reasonable for what I have invested and what is needed to complete.  I am only selling because I want to see this truck completed and it won't probably get done by me for awhile.  No low ball offers please and only bid if you really want it.  I can assist with shipping but it is the winning bidders responsibility to find a shipper.  I could possible assist with shipping to someone who is in the local area.  Call or email with additional questions.  360 451 4088

I also have another hood, painted yellow like the rest of the truck.  Also have original grill and bumper.

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.

Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.
To see what Team Chevy has been up to all off-season, check out all three videos posted after the jump.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
