Looks as if it came right out of the showroom. Real head turner at the Detroit dream cruise."

I found this vehicle in an old barn in northern Saskatchewan where it was used as a farm truck. There was no rust on the vehicle when I got it, although the box was in really rough shape.  The truck is a 1 ton (9 foot box) 1946 GMC, built in Oshawa, Ontario.  It went through a complete frame-off restoration over the last 10 years. The 216 cu in engine was totally rebuilt professionally, as was all the body work and painting.  The paint colors are original for 1946 GMC.  All rubber is new and all components are either new or rebuilt.  The frame and springs were in such good condition, they still had their parts numbers on them.  The rear axle and the 4 speed transmission were running fine, so new reworks were required.  Engine and cab numbers match.

The vehicle has a top speed of about 43 MPH and rides incredibly smooth considering it's vintage.   This is "an original type " vehicle- the only thing that has been changed from its original state is the conversion from a 6 volt to a 12 volt system. I also added turn signals to make driving a lot easier . The rear fenders on the box look as new; however they are fiberglass since I was unable to locate original replacements.  Spare tire and wheel assembly will be included.

I have a copy of the original vehicle ownership, shop manual, vehicle operating manual, and sales brochure.

This is in "like new" condition and could be on display in any showroom .  Took it to the Woodward Dream cruise in Detroit and got thumbs up from all!

I love this vehicle, but need to sell, due to moving.

2014 Chevrolet Impala [w/video]

Can A Fleet Queen Become a Fullsize King?
On paper, the Chevrolet Impala is a pretty strong seller, posting annual sales that have hovered right around 170,000 units for the last two years, but it only takes one trip to practically any rental car agency to discover where the majority of those sales have come from. In fact, General Motors told Autoblog that a full 70 percent of Impala sales last year went to fleet companies for things like rental cars and government vehicles. Logic tells us that this is neither good for resale values nor name equity, so Chevrolet is getting ready to roll out an all-new Impala with improved comfort, styling and technology, hoping to turn the tables on its retail-to-fleet ratio.
Chevrolet's sedans have come on quite strong in the last few months with the introduction of the Cruze diesel and the SS sedan, but while these will likely be low-volume sellers, there's more pressure for the new Impala to perform well as GM looks to slash fleet sales and compete with the wide variety of full-size sub-luxury sedans. Riding on a platform shared with the Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac XTS, the 2014 Impala will compete against the Hyundai Azera, Ford Taurus and Toyota Avalon on the more traditional side, while also looking to take a bite out of somewhat sportier models like the Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger twins and the Nissan Maxima. We headed to sunny San Diego to see if this totally new Impala can stand on its own without the assistance of fleet companies and rental agencies. [w/video

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.
