1946 CHEVY HOT ROD PICKUP

This is one super cool truck. It's professionally built all the way, and is not one of these deathtraps that people seem to be calling a rat rod these days. This truck is one of a kind, with a well thought out build, and lots of money and time put into it. It wasn't thrown together with junky swapmeet and junk yard parts. Most everything except the body and accent pieces were new, but made to look like a 50 year old hot rod. If that's your definition of a rat rod, then this is it. This truck will hold it's own and draw a crowd at any car show or anywhere you park it.

I drive it all over, I haul my wife and kids around in it, and I never worry about safety issues or having it break down on me. You could fly in from anywhere and drive it home. I have a few old cars, and when I want to jump in one and go, and not worry about whether or not it will start or give me issues, this is the one I get in.

The truck has lots of awesome pinstriping done by Skratch, who you may have seen on Overhaulin'. He was on that show for about 4 years and does a lot of stuff for Chip Foose and a lot of high end cars all over.

I absolutely hate to sell it, but I have a new project to build and I need to sell it to make a parking space.

Now the details:

The cab is a 1946 Chevy pickup, unchopped, but channeled over the frame. My buddy who did the build is about 6'4" and fits in it comfortably. I'm 5'9" and have tons of room. The bed is a 1953 Chevy pickup bed that has been shortened and narrowed with a removable metal framework/ wood floor. The grille is a 1935 Chevy.

The doors have been completely gone through, dynamatted, everything in them rebuilt, new glass, new felt, etc.

The front windshield regulator has been rebuilt and the windshield cranks out great. The cowl vent has been rebuilt and works great too.

There is an awesome stereo under the seat that works off of your ipod, phone, mp3, or whatever you want to plug up to it.

Gauges are in the glove box. No speedometer. The cops are too blown away by how cool it is to worry about how fast you are going.

The seat is awesome. Black with red "ostrich" inserts. And seat belts.

Front and rear glass are cracked, spiderwebbed, have a bullet hole or two, and are original like we found it. They are too cool to replace with new glass.

Drivetrain:

Super solid 350. 010 4 bolt block..Not radical, but fast, loud, reliable, and looks great. Old school high rise 2 4 barrel edelbrock intake with 2 660 center squirter Hollys, custom ordered as a matching pair in the late 60's and treated to a high dollar rebuild job a few years back.

Custom ordered lake style headers with flame throwers. Yep, they work. I also have 2 other really cool sets of exhaust that were custom built for it that I will throw in.

350 Turbo with 2500 stall.

Rear end is 9" Ford with 3.08 gears and a spool. Four link set up with coilovers.

Disc Brakes on all 4 corners.

Fuel cell under the bed. Receiver hitch if you want to haul a trailer!

The frame is 2x4 rectangular tubing, built right. It sits right and is super low, but doesn't bottom out ever.

Chrome dropped I-beam front axel, hairpin radius rods, new reversed corvair steering box.

Wide whitewalls all the way around. Radials on the front, FIRESTONE DRAGSTERS on the rear.

This truck is a blast to drive. Rolls down the highway at 85 with one finger on the wheel. Runs good, stops good, and handles good. Doesn't roadwalk, goes straight, doesn't rattle. It's tagged and has a clear title in my name.

It is located in Athens, Texas and I encourage anyone who is seriously interested to come see it in person.

As it is an "old car" it will be sold "as-is, no warranty". $1000 deposit is due by wire transfer or paypal within 24 hours of auction ending, and the balance within 5 business days--wire transfer or cash. I will gladly help coordinate with a shipper if needed.

I'm not interested in any trades because the only reason I'm selling this is that I need the room. Like I said, It's a great vehicle and I don't want to part with it.

Thanks for looking! Please contact me if you have any questions.

Chevrolet Malibu gets across-the-board price cuts, hopes to dig out of slump

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

To say that things aren't going well for the newly redesigned 2013 Chevrolet Malibu is a pretty sizable understatement. Reports have been swirling about the Malibu getting an emergency design refresh, less than a year after its introduction, as well as having its production at the Fairfax Assembly Plant halted twice already this year for excessive inventory. Now, Motor Trend is reporting that the midsize sedan will be receiving price drops across the board ranging from $300 on a number of models up to $770 on the 1LT trim; offsetting some of MSRP drop, though, the destination charge has increased from $760 to $810.
Without destination, the entry-level Malibu LS now starts at $21,995, which is still about $300 more than a Honda Accord and about $300 less than the segment's top-selling Toyota Camry. This new pricing also drops the price of the Eco, 2LT and 3LT trims by $300. The LTZ trim has dropped by $415, meaning that the Malibu's top dog now starts at just under $30,000, excluding destination.
Here are the new starting prices for all eight of the Malibu trim levels compared to the previous prices for the 2013 model year (including destination):

GM recalling 118K Colorado, Canyon pickups over missing hood latches

Thu, 20 Dec 2012

General Motors has announced a recall of 118,800 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to the possibility of secondary hood latches not being installed at the time of manufacture. The affected vehicles are from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model years, all of which were built between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, these trucks fail to "comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, 'Hood Latch System.' The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch." In other words, owners of these trucks could find their vehicles' hoods opening unexpectedly while driving.
The official recall campaign is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Dealers will inspect the affected pickups and if a secondary hood latch is not present, one will be installed free of charge. Scroll down to read the official NHTSA report.
