1942 Chevrolet 1 1/2 Ton Rack Body Truck on 2040-cars
Sanford, Maine, United States
Please do not bid on this auction if you have less than 25 feedback. If you are serious and want to bid, please contact us by phone at the listed number so we can discuss your intentions. Sorry to be this way but lately there has been a rash low feedback bidders bidding, winning the auction and then not following through with the sale. We take our auctions seriously and just want you to do the same. This auction is for a 1942 Chevrolet 1 1/2 Ton Rack Body Truck. Originally started life as a fire truck. Has only 17,342 miles. 216 6 Cylinder Thrift Master Engine with 4 Speed Manual Transmission. Has a 9 foot factory type rack body with removable sides but is newer than the truck. The body and under carrige on the truck is in very nice shape no rust issues. Nice straight fenders, doors, hood, roof, etc. There is a minor dented area on the passenger side running board from getting to close to something. The truck runs great. Shifts good and brakes stop fine. This was used by Portland based Nappi Distributors Bottling Company as a promotional vehicle until the company was sold to the new company that is listed on the doors. I always liked this particular year style and with a little sprucing up could be made to look really sharp. Paint the wheels out fancy, put on a chrome front bumper and sand down all the back body and racks and varnish them. It would change the looks dramatically. A lot of guys are changing out the frame to a later model chassis and running gear and making car carriers or haulers. You can go many different ways with this. Will have a Maine registration with transferable dealer paperwork for a smooth transaction. If you need more info or pics feel free to call or email us. Phone number 1-207-324-5568 Days and 1-207-432-2862 Eves and Sundays. |

NHTSA could add 1M cars to GM recall
Wed, 13 Mar 2013
The Detroit Free Press is reporting that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may expand a recall campaign for faulty brake lamps. The agency is currently looking into complaints that certain 2004-2011 Chevrolet Malibu models as well as some 2007-2009 Saturn Aura sedans may have brake lights that do not illuminate when the driver presses the pedal. Alternatively, the lamps may also illuminate without input from the driver. General Motors recalled 8,000 Pontiac G6 models from the 2005 model year for the same problem, and NHTSA is currently investigating whether to add 550,000 more G6 models built between 2005 and 2009 to the list for the same issue.
In addition, investigators are currently examining 97 complaints from Malibu and Aura owners with the same trouble. If NHTSA adds those models to the recall campaign, more than one million units could be covered. GM, meanwhile, says there have been no accidents or injuries as a result of the problem.
GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices
Mon, 21 Oct 2013The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too
Fri, 07 Dec 2012We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.
