1970 Nova

350/375hp * Muncie 4 Speed * 12 Bolt Posi

This car comes from my personal collection. I’ve owned this car for just about a year and a half, I bought it from the original family from West Virginia.

This Nova was well taken care its whole life. It started out as a 6 cylinder 3 speed manual transmission on the floor. The conversion to the Muncie 4 speed was a perfect fit. The driveline is all new, not a penny was pinched during the build. The 350 roller motor is pumping out a killer 375hp. The Muncie close ratio 4 speed shifts smooth. The new 12 bolt rear end is set up with new axles, a new Eaton posi unit with a 3:55 gear. To protect the performance of the driveline, a four core aluminum radiator was installed to keep her running at a consistent 180° degrees. I have replaced the fuel system, tank and lines, (3/8 stainless), and brake system, all new power front disc including all hardware and lines (stainless).

All body metal is original and is in excellent condition. Floors and trunk are perfect. The car was repainted more than 20 years ago to its original GM color code 75, Cranberry Red. Please note the trunk area, it still has the original trunk mat and splatter paint., it's never been touch-up. The sub-frame was removed, sandblasted, primed, painted and reinstalled with new bushings and mounting hardware.  Please note the factory red primer on the underside of the floor pans.

The seats, door panels, headliner, dash and dash pad are all original and perfect, the interior needs nothing.

The car is riding on a new set of 14 x 7 steel wheels painted to match the factory paint and a new set of Firestone Wide Oval tires and factory dog dish hub caps.

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.

2015 Chevy Tahoe gets Police Patrol Vehicle treatment

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

That was fast. Mere days after showing a Police Concept based on the 2015 Tahoe at the SEMA Show, Chevrolet has announced that it will build a PPV model based on the SUV to do battle with the Ford Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer) and Dodge Durango Special Service.
You'll recall that the Tahoe has been police staple for several years, predating both the Explorer and Durango police variants, so the fact that the new model would spawn a police variant is hardly surprising. Like the civilian model, the 2015 PPV benefits from a more efficient 5.3-liter, direct-injection V8 that pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It also features more high-strength steel, offering better crash protection, on top of optional safety items like lane departure warning, forward collision alert and a Safety Alert Seat.
The press release is rather light on police-specific items, aside from the auxiliary battery, which keeps the myriad of electronics in a modern police car running even when the engine isn't. Lightbars, 17-inch steel wheels on Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires and a push bar round out the mods for the Tahoe PPV. The cabin features a revised center console and room for laptop and other equipment mounts.

Chevy might've pulled out of NASCAR if it weren't for new Gen 6 car

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

We've been on the fence with NASCAR for some time now. On one hand, it's some of the closest racing anywhere in motorsports, with actual passing and door-handle-to-door-handle action as a matter of course. But on the other, it's become template racing - a personality-driven sport more about the drivers than any sort of loyalty to a particular automaker. The Car Of Tomorrow format really rammed that message home, with a racecar's identity coming down to little more than headlamp stickers slapped on the nose. That's not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself, but we've wondered for some time what's in it for the automakers, who pay big money to stay in a series that has had little increasingly little do with street car sales, let alone innovation.
Apparently General Motors was beginning to wonder the same thing. In a new ESPN report, Rick Hendrick, team owner of Hendrick Motorsports, suggests that GM would have seriously considered leaving NASCAR if it wasn't for the move away from the COT to the new Gen 6 racer. According to Hendrick, GM North America boss Mark Reuss spearheaded the charge away from the 2007 COT and toward a racecar with clearer automaker ties - cars like the new Chevrolet SS racer shown above. Learn more about the fight for a closer-to-production look in the ESPN story at the link.
Now, if we could just get more rear-wheel drive V8 coupes into showrooms....
