1970 Monte Carlo Ss 454 Original Big Block Super Sport! 511 Hp!! on 2040-cars
Sugarloaf, Pennsylvania, United States
We have a beautiful 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo SS 454 for sale. Factory 454 V8, auto, power steering, power disk brakes, AM-FM stereo, and dealer installed air conditioning. This car has the same owner for over the last 27 years and was always kept in a heated garage! The owner will regret selling the car but can no longer legally drive due to health issues. "Why keep it" he says. Here is an opportunity for someone to own a very unique an original 454 SS Monte Carlo. Why unique you ask? Well, I tell you why. In 2013 the original drive train was redone that had 81,800 miles on it. The original 454 was taken to Jensen's engine technologies of Nescopeck, PA. and was treated to a full race performance rebuild and made a whopping 511 Horse power and 546 ponds of torque on the dyno (have the dyno sheets)! If that is not enough power for you there is another 100 HP on tap with a small NOS plate system with the tank mounted within the driver reach! The nitrous was used once to test it when the owner and was present in the passenger seat. The engine still runs on premium pump gas and runs cool in heavy traffic. All the rest of the drive-train modifications, installation and tuning was done at Yanoski Motorsports of Sugarloaf, PA. I will list all the modifications the best I can. There has been over $ 15,000 invested just in the last 2 years alone!! There is less than 500 miles on the drive train rebuild. The Monte was never raced and always cared for. It was never driven in bad weather. The frame and floors are very clean and there has never been any rust. The factory spare and jack are in the carpeted trunk.
Let's start with the paint. The Monte is the correct color (Classic White) it came with from the factory. The car has one repaint. The paint is very nice for being close to 20 years old. It still has a very deep shine. It is not perfect, with a few small blemishes and minor chips. The owner believes it is DuPont Imron. This paint still shows very well! The Interior is very nice with the original headliner, door panels and rear seat. The car has brand new carpet, front seats just re upholstered and new package tray. A custom auto sound factory style radio puts out 300 watts of power to the Pioneer speakers. The radio can control an I pod, MP3 player, or a CD player. The car has a what is to be believed a dealer installed air conditioning unit under the factory dash that currently is not hooked up, but all of the parts are boxed that would complete the system. The engine is the correct 454 that has been magged, decked, and bored .030 over with JE -SRP forged pistons. The factory crank was magged , cut .010-.010 and balanced. The original heads were decked, new guides with a set of Manley Stainless 2.18-1.88 were installed and given a race five angle valve job. Other performance parts include -- Weiand Stealth intake with Everbright finish Holley 4779 750cfm carb with electric choke Pertronics ignitor 2 ignition & coil Taylor custom spark plug wire set Holley chrome manual fuel pump Performance headers with dual exhaust and Flowmaster 40 series mufflers New chrome water pump New chrome Power steering pump New chrome pulleys, brackets, etc......you get the idea, everything was replaced at the time the engine was done. Transmission is the original numbers matching turbo 400 that shifts perfect with a custom 2400 rpm stall speed done by Atlantic Coast Converters The rear end is the correct 12 bolt posi that has been completely redone wit all new bearings, Yukon posi unit, and 355 gears. The speedometer/trans has been re-calibrated and is spot on! This car runs and drives excellent! It needs nothing! Take it and show it, drive it, be proud of it anywhere! I'm sure that I have forgot to list some things. If you you want to stop by and check it out, have any questions, or need any other info about this awesome vehicle, please feel free to call Jim at 570-956-6342 Thanks and have a great day! |

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray
Fri, 25 Oct 2013We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]
Sun, 03 Feb 2013The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.
Refreshed 2014 Camaro confirmed for New York debut
Thu, 07 Mar 2013We've already seen leaked specs and potential spy shots, but the refreshed 2014 Chevrolet Camaro will make its official debut at the New York Auto Show in a few weeks.
Besides a tweaked exterior and the possibility of a high-output LS7 under the hood, we really don't know much else about the 2014 Camaro, but here's hoping for an improved interior, too.
In addition to the refreshed Camaro, Chevrolet will also be showing off the recently introduced Chevrolet SS, making its debut on the auto show circuit, and we'll also get our first look at the C7 Corvette coupe and convertible side-by-side.
