Apex, North Carolina, United States

I purchased the car from Hertz car sales in Hawaii in 2002 with 24,470 miles. I moved to NC in 2008 and brought the car with me. Over the past 12 years, I have cared for the car with regular maintenance as well as repairs. I regularly have the car maintained by Apex Auto Service and within the last 3 years, I have completed the following repairs:

08/17/2011 Replaced fuel pump
08/17/2012 Replaced oxygen sensor
04/08/2013 Replaced manifold intake gaskets
06/30/2013 Replaced interior carpet and 4 speakers (Polk Audio)
08/28/2013 Replaced outer tie rods, replaced 4 tires (new Cooper radials)
05/09/2014 Replaced spark plugs and wires, changed fuel filter
06/16/2014 Replaced front brake pads, rotors and calipers
07/07/2014 Replaced serpentine belt

Mechanically, the car is in great condition--the engine is smooth and the car rides nice. The interior is very clean (recently replaced carpet and floormats), the seats are in very good condition and the air-conditioning is cold. The exterior does have blemishes, especially the front and rear bumpers where the paint is peeling and fading. There are a few dings, the windshield has a very small chip and there is a small rust spot in the trunk, which was repaired with resin and fiberglass.

Kelly Blue Book pricing:
Private Party/good condition $3,646
Trade In To Dealer/fair condition $2,502

I do have the Carfax report available upon request.

GM won't sell 2014 Chevrolet SS in Canada

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

Allow us to be the first to extend our condolences to our friends to the north. General Motors has announced the 2014 Chevrolet SS will not be available in Canada. The Globe and Mail reports the automaker has confirmed the high-performance sedan won't hit Canadian dealers, though GM hasn't offered up any reasoning as to why that is.
Buyers here in the US of A, meanwhile, can look forward to getting their hands on the 415-horspower, rear-wheel drive SS by late summer. Something tells us it won't be long after that before Canadian officials start seeing individually imported 6.2-liter V8 four-doors in their neighborhoods. Fortunately, Canadian buyers will still be able to take home the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette. The C7 bowed at the Canadian International Auto Show last week, reportedly drawing sizable crowds and interest.

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala

Fri, 31 May 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.
