This is the ultimate muscle car!     The custom built high performance 383 small block V8 in this car was built by Proformance Unlimited in 2009 and has seen less than 1000 miles since.  As can be seen in the picture of the invoice the engine and transmission cost was $9500.     Amazing race engine sound and performance but made for driving.     Backed up by a new TH 350 transmission with a high stall converter.    In the pictures I have included the invoice from the custom engine and transmission build that lists all of the parts and specs of the build.    I even have the video of the engine being tested on the dyno.    Additionally, this car is installed with a new, custom aluminum radiator. While the engine is big and powerful, the radiator keeps the engine very cool. The vehicle originally had a gear shift mounted on the column, but it has since been replaced with a T-Shift on the floor. Mechanically, it is pretty much ready!    I converted the rear drum brakes to disc and installed drilled and slotted rotors and CPP calipers.     The matching front rotors and calipers are sold with the car so a simple 2 hour install job.    I also installed a rear torsion bar to help stabilize the entire car.   All new front stabilizer urethane bushings sold with car as well.    It is a true muscle car!    For the new owner, this will be a paint job and interior project to finish up this muscle car beauty.   Talking interior, the front bench seat was replaced with two bucket seats out of a vehicle from the same era while the rear bench seat remains original. The headliner and carpet is original and in good shape.  As the condition description mentioned, there are very few dents and scratches on the vehicle. Out of these few, all are very minor. The chrome is not in bad shape. Nothing a little polish cant handle.    I installed a new custom grill as well.   There is no rust on this car anywhere, even the frame is rust free.    I bought this project car when i saw how rust free it was.    Clearly never seen salt.    Lastly, the vehicle is rolling on Boyd Coddington wheels and Toyo Tires. The wheels are absolutely gorgeous and will look amazing on a fully restored muscle car. Take some time to check out the pictures I have uploaded so you can see all of this for yourself.    I am selling this vehicle because I have moved my hobby from cars to planes and I do not think that I will ever get around to finishing this project. Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.

Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum.
