I am selling off my company 2006 Chevy HHR LS Wagon. I picked this up about 2 years ago to use to run parts around for my work and was going to wrap it as a mobile add which I never did. The car has served me well but I have decided that I will be better served by a full size cargo van. This car was owned by a smoker prior to my purchasing it so I had custom seat covers made up from a guy on the internet for it to cover the burn holes in the seat. Car has just under a 100k and runs great, can take it anywhere. I have been zipping all around MD, VA and PA with it the past two year with it giving me no real problems. It does have plenty of road ware, nicks, scratches and small dents. It also appears that somewhere down the line the exterior door handles were replaced or the they faded differently the the body paint as the do not appear to be quit the right color but work just fine. Car has remote start, power windows and locks. I had new tires put on it when I bought it so they are two years old with about 20K on them. When I bought the car it had a front end vibration, upon getting it to the mechanic it was determined the front hub bearing was going bad, so I had the hub assembles on both sides completely replaced. About 9 months later the vibration began again and it was determined that the passenger hub bearing was failing again. The hub assembly on that side was replaced again under warranty. Two months ago it started yet again so I decided I need to take it to a different mechanic and he determined that yes again the passenger bearing was starting to fail and that the true cause of these bearings going bad was a cracked control arm on that side causing additional stress to the bearing on that side. You are looking around $300 for the control arm and hub assembly to make the repair. Car gets great gas mileage and has been a great service vehicle for us. Just need something bigger. As is where is.

800k car names trademarked globally, suddenly alphanumerics seem reasonable

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

What's in a name? This cliched phrase probably gets tossed out at every marketing meeting that happens when a new car gets its nomenclature. We know the answer, though: everything. The name of a car has all the potential to make or break it with fickle customers that are more conscious than ever about what their purchases say about them.
That's giving headaches to marketing folks across the automotive industry. "It's tough. In 1985 there were about 75,000 names trademarked in the automotive space. Today there are 800,000," Chevrolet's head of marketing, Russ Clark, told Automotive News. Infiniti's president, Johan de Nysschen, echoed Clark's sentiment, saying, "The truth of the matter is, across the world, there is hardly a name or a letter that hasn't already been claimed by one car manufacturer or another. You can go through the alphabet - A, B, C and so forth - and you will quickly see that almost all available letters are taken."
What has that left automakers to do? Get creative. In the case of Infiniti, it made the controversial move to bring all of its cars' names into a new scheme, classifying them as Q#0 for cars and QX#0 for SUVs and crossovers. So the Infiniti G, which was available as the G25 and G37, is now the Q50. The FX37 and FX50 are now the QX70.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible headed for Geneva debut

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.
