3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!!!        OK guys you may want to get a snack and a beer or two before you start reading this because it may take awhile. Up for bids is a 1971 El Camino, im going to call this a running, driving project car but it can be run as is with just a few minor things checked. I have only driven this car a few miles near my home as its not licensed or insured. First off let me say that you need to look at the pictures very carefully, enlarge them and look at all thats been bought for and done to this car. Lots and lots of money has been spent on it. Engine parts and machine shop labor, wiring, tires, radiator, etc, it goes on and on. There are many parts from Jegs, Summit and others. Look at the pics!!!!!!   This car belonged to a guy that had some cash but had very little mechanical ability so he had to rely on others to do the work for him.  The owner got discouraged waiting for the work to be done as was promised and decided to sell the car. Now, this car isnt perfect but let me say its an extremely nice running driving project car. Let me start with the body. The top has a dent in the right front corner that came from something falling on it, its not major and its just what you see in one of the pics, an easy fix. The hood is nice, grille is driver quality and the front bumper is straight, just needs rechromed. The inner fenders seem good but the passenger has a little rust where the battery sits. The right fender is very good, the left one has a few bubbles from a earlier minor repair. The drivers door has a small amout of rust bubbles on the outer panel only, also minor, bottom is very solid. Passenger door is showing a little rust coming out on the outer panel only and a very small place on the bottom of it, towards the front, not major. Both quarter panels have some very minor rust starting behind the rear wheels, none at all around the wheel wells. The lip of the wheel wells have been rolled in a little for tire clearance. Guys I have tried to add pics of all the rust places I have spoken of so you can see for yourself its very, very minor. The tailgate has some paint cracking on it from where it has been bumped a little but its also easily fixed. The tailgate has a coupe holes on the inside bottom of it but its NOT all rotted away. The bed floor only has about 2 holes the size of a quartes in it, very good. The rear bumper has a small dent in it but its good for a daily driver. The bottom of this El Camino, floors etc, is amazingly solid. One of the best ive ever seen on this type of car. I think i may have seen 2 rust places the size of a quarter somewhere near the underbed storage area, very, very solid guys. The frame is also in great condition. The paint on this car is about 6 out of ten id guess. What it needs is to be blocked sanded and resprayed as it seems a little wavy,  probably because of old paint under it. It still shines good but has some nics etc from normal everyday wear and tear. All the glass is good, windshield has some wiper scratch like most all cars but not serious, All the other glass has a very dark tint on it as seen in the pics. It is a pretty good job but since its film its easily removed if you dont like it. Looks to have new front brakes and think the rears have been replaced also including the wheel cylinders.Tires are new, see the pics, rally wheels are nice but one center cap is missing. The interior is pretty nice but still needs a little attention. Seat has been recovered, door panels are pretty nice driver quality. Carpet is good, maybe faded a little in a spot or two but its clean. One kick panel is missing. The dash pad has a crack in it but still looks good, There is a radio there but dont think its hooked up. The heater controls are missing because plans were to add a vintage air unit but never got around to it. This was an ac car and the heater box and lines under the hood are there along with the compressor and bracket to put it back on the engine. The El Camino has power steering and brakes. A Painless wiring harness was added to this car, see the pics for the cost of that. The engine in this car has had lots and lots of money spent on it as shown by the pics of the receipts. Look them over carefull guys as those pics tell a lot about the engine, Machine work, new internal parts,a finned aluminum oil pan, and also a aluminum pan for the trans. Theres a billet dipstick, chrome air cleaner and the icing on the cake is the March pulley system on it also. Price one of those kits and it will knock your eyes out, see the receipt for it in a pic also. It has a new aluminum radiator and a new electric fan installed, also pics of that cost also. Guys you all know what all this stuff costs so the price on this car is a steal for what youre getting. The car also has a set of Hedman headers and flowmaster dual exhaust, it sounds super nice!!!! The exhaust is done right with the tailpipes exiting behind the wheels. Guys ive tried to hit on everything this car has and youd be hard pressed to find a deal even close to this one. You dont see all these extras on many cars here on ebay. The El Camino just needs a little TLC guys, thats all. It starts right up and shifts fine, no problems there. You just need to take it and give it a good going over because its been off the road a few months. I suggest transporting it but if you want to drive it thats your decision. Id just hate to see something minor cause you to ruin an engine like this. I cant express enough how important it is to look at the pics of all the parts and accessories that have been added to this car. Add them up and the El Camino is the deal of the century. You cant buy a 1971 El Camino and do all this for even close to my buy it now price. Reserve is right at the buy it now so if youre interested dont hesitate, you wont be disappointed!!!!  I also reserve the right to end the auction early as its listed for sale locally also. I may be able to help with shipping arrangements depending on where you are located. Over all this is a nice car, the rust places ive mentioned are very minor and easily repaired guys, the paint is good for a daily driver, interior is driver quality also, new tires, and it runs great. Checkout my feedback guys as its right at 600 and all positive. You dont get great feedback like that id you lie and cheat people, I tell it like it is. Rest assure your dealing with an honest ebayer. Read the description carefully, look at the pics and you will know exactly what to expect.Ask any questions you may have, dont assume anything. Dont miss out on this once in a life time deal. Thanks for reading my novel and good luck should you decide to bid on this super 71 El Camino.   REMEMBER THIS IS A 3 DAY AUCTION ONLY!!!!!!!

Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra debut all-new designs, three new engines

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

General Motors has finally dropped the curtain on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra. Both trucks have undergone substantial revisions with updated versions of the company's 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 engines. In a shot across the bows of both Ford and Chrysler, GM says it won't use a V6 engine adapted from passenger car applications. Instead, it developed the 4.3-liter engine based on its proven truck-duty architecture.
All three mills will boast direct injection fuel systems as well as a new cylinder head design. Combined with a revised piston, the new engines feature a smaller combustion chamber with a compression ratio of 11:1 or higher depending on the application. Cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing are all part of the recipe, and each engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with auto grade breaking. So far, no fuel economy or horsepower figures have been released, though GM says the new engines will best their predecessors in both areas.
Outside, the trucks feature a number of enhancements to reduce drag and wind noise, and GM claims both the Silverado and Sierra will offer buyers some of the quietest cabins in the class. Extended cab models now feature front-hinged rear doors to allow easier access to the back passenger area, and Crew Cab buyers can now select between a five-foot, eight-inch bed or a six-foot, six-inch bed. Buyers with a mind toward going off road will also rejoice in the return of the Z71 package, complete with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and additional under-body protection.

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?
