1980 Chevy / GMC El Camino / Caballero from Alabama. The car has always been in Alabama, and therefore is completely rust free. The chassis and body have approximately 19k miles, and are in excellent condition. This car was manufactured at the GMC assembly plant in Arlington, TX, and was originally a 305 V8 Caballero. The cloth split bench seat interior is also in great condition for the age. The bed area is rust free, and does not appear to have been heavily used. The stock (3) piece rally wheels are factory issue, period correct, and in good shape. The Caballero now sports a quad headlight El Camino front clip and badging. The power is provided by a low miles, torque rich early 70's Buick 455 big block (blue block). Those of you familiar with the Buick 455's will know that the "blue block" engines were built stronger than the earlier "red block" series. The front springs have been replaced, upgraded to handle the heavier V8. A full dual exhaust system has been professionally fitted, and sounds fantastic.  The front pads and rotors are new.  Options include power steering, power brakes, automatic, original am/fm stereo, tinted glass, and tilt steering wheel. This is a low cost "turn key" classic car (or truck, if you prefer). Paint is in great shape, and was re sprayed several years ago to match the stock metallic gold finish.

Thanks for bidding, and good luck !!!

Fun fact: Caballero is a Spanish word, meaning "Knight".

New information:  a brand new radiator has been installed (5/15/13) to keep the big 455 nice and cool.

2014 Chevrolet SS makes its live debut

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

Chevrolet showed off the new 2014 SS in an airport hangar last night, its first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan in the US since the Impala SS from 1997. We'll have more to say about the SS later today, but this is the sedan that Chevrolet sees as the final piece in restoring its performance credentials. For those of you looking for a manual transmission, however, that wish will go unfulfilled - at least for now: the only two options buyers will have are the color and whether or not they want a sunroof.
We'll work on getting some more angles (in better light) today at Daytona International Speedway, but with fans seeing the car for the first time, we don't hold out much luck of getting a clear shot. So for now, enjoy the high-res gallery above.

GM recalling 426,000 sedans over faulty transmission shift cable

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

General Motors is recalling some 426,240 sedans that may have a faulty transmission shift cable, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report this morning. The recall concerns a fault within four-speed automatic transmissions equipped on 2007-2010 Saturn Aura models, and 2008-2010 Chevrolet Malibu and Pontiac G6 models.
The report specifies that tabs on the transmission shift cable may fracture and separate. Such a fault could cause a discrepancy between the actual position of the transmission and the apparent position of the shift lever.
GM is currently working to notify owners of the vehicles in question, and dealers will check and replace shift cables free of charge. Scroll down to read the complete NHTSA report.

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.
