This 1979 El Camino SS was purchased in 1980 by my dad from the original owner when the vehicle had about 12,000 miles. It has been owned by my dad and/or me since 1980. The car has been repainted black cherry color several years ago. It was originally a Black SS Royal Knight with decals etc. This car has matching numbers with the original engine and transmission. It has a newer cam, timing chain, water pump, radiator, fuel pump and rebuilt transmission. It runs good and the miles are original. I have most or all of the original engine and other parts such as intake, exhaust manifolds, radio, carburetor, ac compressor etc. and they will be shipped with the car. It currently has headers, aluminum intake, holley carburetor, factory replaced air shocks and dual exhaust with no catalytic converters etc it sounds good. The AC and cruise control are not currently hooked up. Paint and interior are in good condition. The bucket seats are original vinyl still. The paint has a few scratches and door dings but overall it is shiny and good. Bed and floor pans are solid, no visible rust on exterior. The car runs and drives well, engine has a couple of oil leaks and will need a heater core replaced if using in the winter. This has the 350 V8 original engine with 4 barrel carburetor and TH350 automatic transmission. Power Steering, Tilt Wheel. Dash has a couple of cracks. This is a great SS Royal Knight, top of the line El Camino from 1979. Collectible. This vehicle has been in a garage or inside storage most of its entire life. I have the original side rails for the bed. Tires are pretty wide and very good with chrome 15" rims and look good on the vehicle.

Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.

First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.

2014 Chevy Cruze Diesel destined for Chicago debut

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

It's been a little over a year and a half since General Motors first confirmed plans to offer a diesel-powered Chevrolet Cruze here in the United States, and we've now learned that the oil-burning compact will debut under the lights of the Chicago Auto Show in February. According to GM Authority, the Cruze Eco-D will be introduced as part of the entire 2014 model year Cruze range, set to go on sale in the second quarter of this year.
Earlier reports have indicated that the diesel Cruze will be able to achieve fuel economy numbers in the range of 50 miles per gallon. For comparison, the similarly sized Volkswagen Jetta TDI is rated at 30/42 mpg city/highway, but as we found out in our long-term test of the 2011 model, hitting 50 mpg was a piece of cake.
Official specifications will be released at the time of the 2014 Cruze's unveiling, though reports have stated that the sedan will be powered by a reworked version of the 2.0-liter turbo-diesel inline-four found in the Holden Cruze CDX overseas. In that application, the four-pot oil-burner produces 160 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque - increases of 20 hp and 29 lb-ft over the 2.0-liter engine used in VW's Jetta TDI.
