Scottsburg, Indiana, United States

For sale a very nice 1971 elcamino with an older restoration, but still in very good condition.  I purchased the car from local owners who purchased the car in Edinburgh Indiana,  the car originally was purchased in Zionsville Indiana new.  The car runs and drives excellent, one the best driving older vehicles I've owned, would not  be afraid to drive anywhere.  Everything works as it should, the only origianl intierior piece missing is the radio,  the current radio is an older cheap am/fm cassette player (maybe 80's).  The following is a listing of what has been done and what could be improved.

Good:

* Overall paint is excellent with the exception of some surface rust in the bed(mainly from scracths). the only other spot of rust is on the passagers side right below the chrome piece between the vinyl roof and paint(this is surface rust only).  I do have the exact antique green factory paint to fix both..

* Metal under vinyl top is solid no rust.

* floor pans are excellent shape, I checked when putting in the new dark green carpet.

* New elcamino seat covers, two tone SS style.

* Recently Upgraded electronic ignition, carborator and intake. ( i do have the original distributar and valve covers)

* New custom exhaust with flowmasters from maifolds and nicely tucked under the rear bumpers,  sounds and looks great.

* Tire are excellent condition Hoosier brand! with Police center caps ,  I do have the original centercaps.

* The car does does not leak, smoke or make noises.  A very solid quite running 350.

* New master cylinder and front disc pads

* New battery, plugs and pvc valve.

* New front shocks

* Metal Cowl induction hood with new hood pins.

* Underneath of car is super clean, no rust that I could find.

* All chorme is excellent condition, no dings.

Needs:

* A/C is working, bloing cool , but not cold air.

* Car drives straight, but steering wheel is off center.  Needs alignment. I can have aligned prior to pick up.

I would consider trades for older C10(65-70), Corvettes(70-80) or Harley Road King.

Please feel free to conatct me with any questions.

This is a super nice car, a great driver to car shows or drives.  WIth a little work can be a show winner!

Thanks for looking

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.

Indian tuner turns Chevy Optra into Mustang 'Eleanor' replica

Fri, 03 Aug 2012

If you are a big fan of automotive oddities, this may come as a little treat. If you are a Shelby or Mustang diehard, prepare to have your sensibilities violated.
The master fabricators at BigDaddyCustoms are the minds behind what you see above. At first, it appears to be a slightly misshapen custom Mustang, modeled after "Eleanor" from Gone In 60 Seconds, but upon further examination, something appears to be amiss. In fact, the custom shop, based in India, has created an Eleanor replica grafted upon a lowly Chevrolet Optra. While it may take a second for the Optra to ring a bell, you should recognize its badge-engineered sibling, the Daewoo Lacetti, used on Top Gear.
We don't know what star would opt for the Reasonably Priced Car in Shelby's clothing, but it's clearly someone more concerned with the aesthetic than the performance credentials of this automotive mash-up.
