Sonoma, California, United States
1970 Chevrolet El Camino Super Sport SS 396California Truck with Cowl Induction, Automatic, Factory Air......please be patient while the many photos load.....1970 Chevrolet El Camino Super Sport 396 for sale in Sonoma California. Finished in Classic White with black stripes and a stock black interior and equipped with the Super Sport package, trim & stripes, 396 CI motor, automatic transmission, power steering & power brakes and working Cowl Induction along with factory air conditioning (not working), bucket seats and an after-market stereo. All gauges and systems functioning, odometer showing 52k miles though not known if original or likely given it's age. Older frame-up restoration from the 1990's, looks nice yet showing some signs wear and age. Body is straight and rust free with solid rockers and quarters and no apparent signs of previous damage. It has a nice rhino lined bed with heavy mat. Starts; runs and drives well with plenty of power, a nice sounding exhaust and excellent shifting. Suspension feels good but tires are aged and should be replaced. The interior is comfortable. The seats and door panels were redone a few years ago but the carpet could stand to be freshened up and the dash-pad which currently has a cap on it. Nice headliner and spare area. We cannot find a build sheet (checked the top of the tank as well as the insides of the seats); there is no Protect-O-Plate and the engine numbers do not match (see photos). Therefore I cannot confirm if this is real or a clone. However, it is a nice old, California truck and with a few small, inexpensive trim items addressed could easily be taken to the next level. There are another 145 pictures in addition to what you see here as well as video so you can see and hear her run. See the link at the bottom of the page following these first 50 images. Why the Corvette's Performance Data Recorder can be illegal in some states
Fri, 26 Sep 2014The Performance Data Recorder with Valet Mode available on the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray seems like a fantastic tool for many owners. Whether they are taking 720p video while lapping the track in their new 'Vette, or just want to protect their purchase from inconsiderate joyriders, the system offers a lot of functionality in one package. However, one of the PDR's features might get buyers in trouble with the law, and it has nothing to do with recording some illicit high-speed driving on a favorite back road. The problem hinges on the various state laws concerning a person's right to privacy.
According to a letter posted by Jalopnik, Chevy dealers are asking 2015 Corvette owners not to use the Valet Mode portion of the PDR because it records audio in the cabin, in addition to performance specs. That's a problem because privacy laws vary from state to state with some requiring just one side's consent to tape sound and others requiring all parties to agree. According Jalopnik, 15 states mandate everyone's permission beforehand, but it's not clear whether these numbers are up to date. (Actually, the report varies, saying 13 states in some places and 15 in a list.)
According to the letter, Chevy is already working on a software update for the near future to rectify the issue. It's possible that simply adding a warning to drivers and the ability to turn off the audio recording function in Valet Mode might solve the problem. Obviously, this doesn't preclude Corvette drivers from using the performance aspect of the PDR, and owners are free tape lap after lap at the track.
GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series
Thu, 31 Oct 2013During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.
First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph
Tue, 01 Oct 2013Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.
