(the engine I.D. on the block checks out), engine has only just over2000 miles TH350 trans with brand-new Hurst shifter, rear-end had 4:11s, now it has brand new 3:44s for driving to shows Car is tubbed with Mickey Thompson 15" wides inside the wheel wells. Fuel cell in bed, about 16 gals. Breather punched small hole in tonneau cover (shown) Whole car freshly rewired complete. new big Auto Meter tach and gages Car freshly painted, has full-polished American wheels, professionally cut and welded hood Engine has new lifters and pushrods, new retro valve covers, ceramic coated headers, new aluminum radiator, and electric fan (I never turn it on, car runs cool, 180-190) Cam is not too radical, lopes a bit, Hilborn ELECTRONIC fuel injection, (tune it with your laptop) Runs great and dependable This car always draws a crowd at shows, I have over $40,000 invested, injectors alone were over $8000, plus over $15,000 in recent upgrades to make the car awesome Must sell soon, asking reasonable price. I live in a retirement village, cannot park it here. No one could build this car for near what I'm asking! REALLY low reserve. If you EVER want a really nice show car, this is your chance. Less than half it's value. Shipping is up to buyer. This car is dependable, beautiful, a crowd magnet, and easily worth much more than my reserve. May consider a nice "T" roadster as part of the deal, for week end cruising, but NO OTHER trades. Don't try to lowball me. I'll NEVER be that desperate. People who have cars WORTH buying don't ever give them away. You get what you pay for..... |

GM dealers unhappy about pickup prices
Mon, 21 Oct 2013The backlash is beginning. Following General Motors' price hike of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra last week, dealers across the country are expressing their ire over increasing prices in the face of rebates and discounts on trucks from Ford and Ram.
Speaking to Automotive News, Sam Pilato, the general manager at Dimmitt Chevrolet in Clearwater, FL, Silverados are "selling very poorly." W. Carrol Smith, the president of Monument Chevrolet in the heart of truck country, Texas, said, "[GM's] position is that the vehicle stands on its own and it doesn't need a bigger rebate. That's not what the market is telling us."
According to AN, that's the general attitude amongst Chevy and GMC dealers across the country, where the twin pickups are getting butchered in sales by competitors offering up to $9,000 off their sticker prices. Part of the problem for GM is that its trucks are arriving on the market near the end of the current F-150's lifecycle, a fact that Ford has taken advantage of.
Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
2014 Chevy Silverado High Country spied wearing trappings of new luxury trim
Wed, 03 Apr 2013Spy photographers have spotted the new Chevrolet Silverado High Country and GMC Sierra Denali out on public streets for a little testing. From the looks of things, the Silverado will receive a much-differentiated front fascia along with special badges and those honking 20-inch chrome wheels. Expect to find a more posh interior as well. Likewise, the Sierra Denali will wear a tweaked nose with the familiar Denali bling. The one of the GMC trucks spotted here rolls on 21-inch gunmetal wheels instead of the 20-inch chrome pieces of the High Country.
Word has it both trucks will go on sale after the Texas State Fair this summer. While General Motors hasn't said for certain what we can expect to find under the hood, we'd be surprised to see anything outside of the range of engines found in the standard Silverado and Sierra models. That means buyers should be able to get their hands on the efficient, 23-miles per gallon 5.3-liter V8.
