The rockers need work. this car can be fixed by someone who is a auto bodyman. The car was sold by my parents while I was in the army. Last week I found it in a barn of the man who bought it. With my cancer it is just too much a project for me. The elky has a 235 six with a three speed Also has some extra trim in the back. The car is missing the el camino marker on the left side front fender.Side glass on the right door is cracked all other glass good."

I bought this el camino as my first car in 1974. I dove it until I entered the army , my dad sold it.  I always thought I would like to own it again.  Last week I found it in a barn after 37 years and a friend helped me pull it out.  I was going to use it as a cancer project to keep myself busy. It needs someone in better shape than me to fix it.  The car needs a restoration to look as it should. floor pans rust under the headlights, left front fender buy head lights a rust hole, the back quarter panels, the bed behind the cab, The trim needs cleaned polished and repaired, The interior is there but the mice made beds inside, seat moves up and back, door handles all work has jack. This car would make a good project, and is a far better 59 than I've seen on ebay that needs restoration as  the car was in a barn all that time. I would rate it as fair condition.  There are also extra parts in the bed.

GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.
