Chevrolet El Camino Barn Find in good, original, unrestored condition offered
by Gas Monkey Garage showing 60,765 miles (unable to confirm so listed as
160,765). The El Camino
was introduced for the 1959 model year, Harley Earl had suggested a coupe
pickup way back in 1952. The El Camino was
based on an existing and modified platform, the new-for-1959 Brookwood two-door
station wagon, itself based on the completely redesigned, longer, lower and
wider full-sized Chevrolet. This El Camino was built with the 283 ci V8 & 3
speed manual transmission. We found this very good example having been stored
in a barn for many years. We brought it back to the Gas Monkey Garage,
installed a new battery and some fresh gas. We started it up after all these
years and went for a test drive, it runs and drives good (made me want to go to
the farmers market for a load of pumpkins!) This truck had been used by a country
Gentleman and was well cared for throughout the years. The exterior has been re-sprayed
the original color at some time in the past and shows some scratches and dings
from normal use (see all photos). All exterior trim, grills, bumpers and even
the hub caps are present and in good usable condition. The interior is complete
with all dash & trim components present ( even the original radio). We ordered
new carpet & kick panels to start the restoration process but plans changed
with our schedule (we get more cars the same way when someone gets a car for a
project and their plans change!) so now you have this rare opportunity to acquire
a solid, good running & driving 1959 El Camino that’s suitable for a
Classic Museum quality restoration, Kick Ass Hot Rod project, Advertising and
Promotional use or just drive it like it is until you decide! If you’re looking
for the iconic 1959 El Camino in good running condition you won't find a better
example that’s priced to sell! Clear title in hand. This truck will be seen on an upcoming episode of the hit
show Fast N Loud and the winning bidder will have the option of taking delivery
on the show or we can assist with shipping logistics. We sell internationally
as well as locally and will end the Auction when it sells. If you have less
than 5 feedbacks please send your contact info by “asking seller a question”
BEFORE bidding. And as always, you can only find all of our Hats, T Shirts, Hoodies etc... on our
website exclusively. See all pics and ask any questions. |

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray priced from $51,995*
Fri, 26 Apr 2013After months of speculation, Chevrolet has finally revealed the official starting price of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The base MSRP for the 450-horsepower Stingray Coupe will be $51,995, while the Stingray Convertible will go for $56,995 (*both prices include a $995 destination fee). This means that the price increase from 2013 to 2014 is just $1,400 for the coupe and $2,395 for the convertible - pretty modest increases considering the upgrade in specifications. Of course, neither price accounts for the sort of dealer markup that might grace early C7 window stickers, especially since less than a third of all Chevrolet dealers will be allocated Corvette models to sell at the car's launch.
Now, these prices are for the base car, so if you're wondering how much a fully loaded Stingray will run, Chevy has given us a good indication of that as well. The coupe we saw on display at the Detroit Auto Show (shown above), for example, would run $73,360 including options such as the $2,800 Z51 Performance Package, $2,495 competition sport seats and the $1,795 Magnetic Ride Control option - just to name a few. Stepping up to the 3LT trim level that brings a full leather interior will run an extra $8,005 over the base price.
While $20,000 in options may seem like a lot, this "as-tested" price still has the C7 competitively priced against rival coupes like the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. Speaking of price comparisons, Chevrolet also points out that the C7 Stingray Z51 costs $2,200 less than the C6 Grand Sport while delivering better acceleration (0-60 mph in less than four seconds) and improved track performance (including more than 1 g in cornering).
Kurt Busch to shake and bake (again) in Ricky Bobby car at Talladega
Sat, 19 Oct 2013Kurt Busch will channel Ricky Bobby for another NASCAR race, this time driving a Wonder-sponsored Chevrolet SS, in this weekend's Camping World RV Sales 500 at the Talladega Motor Speedway. Unlike past tie-ins, though, there's actually an element of sponsorship here (the "Me" car was done when Busch was running on a team without sponsorship).
It was arranged by Flower Foods, the new owner of the Wonder brand. Wonder was part of the bankrupt Hostess company, which temporarily exited the US market 2012, and set off the Great Twinkie Shortage.
Busch has made something of a habit of channeling characters from famous racing movies, most recently running Tom Cruise's City Chevrolet livery from Days of Thunder in a Nationwide Series race earlier this year. Busch kicked off his movie-inspired antics, though, at Talladega in 2012, when he raced El Diablo's ("It's like... Spanish for like a fighting chicken") "Me" car complete with a cougar on the hood. He even went so far as to channel the lovable idiot that is Ricky Bobby during the race, dropping a few catchphrases about macchiatos and slingshots.
GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value
Thu, 12 Jun 2014Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.
