Ready to go !! Extensive body off restoration , Complete chassis rebuild new BC/CC paint only 1078 miles since completion . Restoration engine Matching # 327 this is the motor car was born with however during the rebuild the block was decked , dont ask me why ? but thats what they did years ago . The orig #s were stamped back into the block. Car has a legible Build sheet that confirms this was a 350 hp car when new. The trim tag reads 420AA trim and 988 AA paint has a matching #s close ratio 4 speed and the correct 370 rear ratio Has power brakes , Power steering is not on build sheet but was added Car runs and drives perfect not much if any aging on the restoration as it was kept under cover in a garage and only driven on nice days only 1078 miles since done . Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. As promised, Chevrolet and GMC are offering a live webcast of the world premiere for the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 and Sierra 1500. After being teased with spy shots and blurry images like the one above for ages, now is the time to see the trucks in the metal, for real (well, as 'real' as it gets on a webcast, at any rate).
Shift your eyes down just below to see the reveal as it happens, starting at 9:30 AM EST. We anticipate having loads of images full technical information to share after the webcast, too, so truck aficionados should stay tuned. We'll also be bringing you live images of both trucks too, when we see them on the show floor at next month's Detroit Auto Show.
