Up for bid is this 1981 Chevrolet Corvette. It has a midnight blue exterior and blue interior with blue cloth seats. Mileage is low, currently at 46,430. It has transparent T-tops with protective leather covers for when removed. Other features include automatic transmission, A/C (upgraded but needs recharged), non-factory AM/FM Sony radio, and power steering (has slight leak, rebuild kit is included). Also included are the original shop manual, a photocopy of the factory assembly manual, and a steering wheel anti-theft device for when the T-tops are removed. It was made in the St. Louis plant.
Overall, the exterior and interior are in good condition. It has been covered when stored. There are some small areas where the paint isn't perfect (only visible from up close: see pictures) but this is a very good looking car overall.
It runs strong and drives well but should have a tune up and needs new control arm bushings before being driven consistently. Sparkplugs and wires are new. Tires have some life left but will need to be replaced before long. Overall, this is a solid Corvette that, with minimal TLC, will be a great car for years to come.

Pure Vision Design TT Camaro has 1,400 reasons to want it
Wed, 06 Nov 2013We've talked about Pure Vision Design before, a California-based company that made waves at last year's SEMA show with its Martini-liveried, Indy-car-powered Ford Mustang. That same car later starred in a Petrolicious video we showed you just a few weeks back. The company's latest creation is a menacing car it calls the Pure Vision Design TT Camaro. Based on a 1972 model, this car shares the Martini Mustang's clean styling and obsession with details.
Unlike the Mustang, which draws its power from a mid-60s Lotus-Ford Indycar engine, the "TT" in this Camaro's name implies something far more potent. The Nelson Racing Engines 427-cubic-inch V8 has been fitted with a pair of turbochargers, with a claimed output of 1,400 horsepower. That's almost 1,000 more than the Martini Mustang.
A six-speed Magnum transmission dispatches that power to the ground, while Pirelli PZero tires are tasked with (somehow) trying to grip the road. Baer brakes hide behind those HRE rims, while JRI coilovers and HyperTech springs bless the Camaro with some degree of competency in the bends.

Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own
Tue, 22 Jan 2013It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
