1981 Chevrolet Corvette Base Coupe 2-door 5.7l on 2040-cars

This auction is for my 1981 Chevrolet Corvette.  The Corvette is a dark silver/gun metal black.  The interior is a lighter silver naterial and is all there including trim, door handles, gauges, insignia, etc.  The body is accounted for, I have the bumpers, grill, etc. They are not cracked or broken.  I have become disabled and I'm no longer can to do big fixes or maintain the many projects I have.  It doesn't take much imagination to see the Corvette painted and a new silver interior kit installed. If you want to do something really different with the car I have a 66 327 short block and aluminum manifold I will sell for $200.00.  The 327 turns over nicely. It just needs a rebuild.  The Corvette appears to have original wheels.

I am asking $1250.00 for the car, but reserve is well under that. I think the Corvette is really worth saving, my original intention, but severe chronic pain and illness have ended my car restoring days, and I need to let all my car projects go.

The car was sold before, but the guy bailed on me, its epidemic on ebay these days.  It remains for sale locally for $1250.00.  The first reasonable earnest offer takes it.

There is a title on the Corvette, it can be restored, fixed to driveability level, or salvaged, your choice. How this nice car got into this condition with less than 55,000 miles is just amazing.

When you buy it,  get in contact with me via email and we can exchange phone numbers.  As soon as I get your email with your phone number I will call you to arrange pickup.  THE CORVETTE DOES NOT RUN only due to dissasembly this car ran before it was taken apart. It will have to be winched up on a trailer.

*Note: These are the sale requirements, ebay just doesnt offer some things in the drop down menus: Because Im selling 3 cars (other two are Cadillacs) and Ive had people who don't back their commitments win all 3, I need $350.00 immediately, unrefundable after winning the bid, payoff within 5 days after winning the bid, the car needs to be picked up two weeks later.

Why does the Corvette Stingray have so many vents? Here's why

Sun, 27 Jan 2013

Just looking at the new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, it's not hard to see that the car's design was created with aerodynamics at the forefront, but Chevrolet designers point out exactly what went into designing the iconic coupe in a pair of recently released videos. The videos show the Corvette going through early design phases, including clay models and wind tunnel tests, as well as talking to the car's chief engineer, Tadge Juechter.
Both videos help explain various aspects of the C7 Corvette, but it's the aero tuning of the car that is most interesting. This includes extra attention paid to the lower air dam and vented hood to help reduce drag and lift, while the rear quarter inlets are for differential and transmission cooling. Juechter said that some of these aero-tuned elements were inspired from GM's involvement in racing.
If you have about five minutes and you can't get enough information about the new 'Vette, then check out the videos posted below.

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
