This is a third owner, rust free, rotisserie restoration of the last year for the C2s. I have owned the car for 20 years and the body off restoration was done the year after I bought it. The 327/350 engine was professionally rebuilt, and a new clutch was installed. The block and heads are date coded early August 1966 and the car was built on Wednesday, September 7, 1966, No. 433. The carburator is a new Holly 650 carb (not original), setup for efficiency. The 4 speed is original GM and shifts smoothly. The original owners manual and protecto plate, along with 2  sets of original keys, are included with the sale.

This car was completely disassembled, media blasted, and primed and painted with base coat clear coat PPG paint in the rare color of Lynndale Blue (only 1381 cars were painted that color in 1967 - the only year for that color). The original radio is included; however, an AM/FM Tape player was installed at the time of restoration. The interior is all new Al Knoch, including vinyl seats, door panels, and carpet in the rare color of teal blue. Vintage Air which blows cold was also added at the time of restoration. Originally a side exhaust car, the mufflers and exhaust system have been completely replaced with all new GM parts. The wheels are finned aluminum with white wall radials - all in great shape.

This car has always been stored in a climate controlled environment and comes with a cloth car cover. It has 67,700 miles and has just 5,000 miles since the restoration 19 years ago (I have kept all receipts and pictures from that restoration). The car starts very easily, runs strong, and has an aggressive sound from the side pipes. It is a great driver and will make someone grin from ear to ear when driving. Unfortunately, I no longer have time to take it for a drive, and that's a real shame.

Please bid with confidence, but I retain the right to end the auction early as I have it for sale locally and have generated some interest. I will accept PayPal, wire transfer, cashiers check, or cash in person within 7 days after close of auction. Vehicle inspection should be done before purchase, and buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. For any questions, please feel free to call me on my cell at 517 320-1704.

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.

First privately owned Corvette Stingray blitzes 1/4 mile in 12.23 at 114.88 mph

Tue, 01 Oct 2013

Chevrolet's latest road rocket, the Corvette Stingray, is a very quick car. If one needs further proof of that, we recommend they take a look at this video from Hennessey of what is claimed to be the first privately owned C7 Corvette to make a pass down the quarter mile. Not just any quarter mile, mind, this black C7 blitzed its way down the tuner's primary testing dragstrip. The Chevrolet ran the quarter in just 12.23 seconds at 114.88 miles per hour. That is a very quick time for a stock car.
Equipped with the Z51 package and a six-speed automatic transmission, not only does the C7 run a solid time, but it does so with little to no drama. That won't last though, as Hennessey will likely return it to its owner with far more power - we just hope they show a drag run of the completed product. Take a look below to watch the C7's 12.23-second run on video.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
