Awesome 1964 Corvette Convertible with 327 cu in/365 hp and Factory 4 Speed Transmission
This cool 1964 Corvette was built at the St Louis factory in May of 1964. It was originally shipped with Black and
Pale Silver interior (491AE) and an exterior color of Satin Silver (940AA). It came with a 327 cu 365 HP engine and
4 speed transmission.

The car underwent its 1st restoration (about 20 years ago) the exterior color was changed from Satin Silver to Red.
The interior was also changed from Black and Pale Silver to all Black and included new carpet, door panels and seat
covers. Since the 1st restoration the driver's side seat cover, drivers side carpet and dash pad is showing some
wear and is all that is needed to bring the interior back to perfect condition. The interior used in the 1st
restoration is a high quality original style that is black and the carpets are 80/20 loop pile.

The car has recently been freshened (about 2 years ago) and received lots of new parts and
trim, including a new White convertible top, new lining to the Hardtop, complete under the hood restoration, new
tires, new carburetor and a fresh beautiful two stage base coat/clear coat Red paint job. With the exceptions
mentioned above, the interior is an original type interior, it has some minor wear and tear but with
the exceptions noted, the interior is in very good shape.

The motor block in the car is not the correct numbers matching block. the original block spun a main bearing and it
ruined the factory block, it was replaced with a 1968 vintage 327/300 hp corvette block. (block # 3782870 HE) The
cars original 461 double hump fuel heads (3782461), aluminum (Winters) intake (3849804), new original type Holly
Carburetor and the original tach drive distributor are all on the car.
The M21 Muncie 4 Speed transmission is original to the car. It shifts and runs smoothly with no noise of any kind.
The shifter is a Hurst replacement shifter and is smooth shifting.
The car is equipped with the original exhaust manifolds and side pipes that sound very cool when you rumble down
the streets.
This car runs very strong but drives and handles great, the cooling system keeps the car at the correct temperature
and the oil pressure is great.
This car has been totally restored from ground up since its birth with just about everything on the car new or
refurbished. The car is sitting on a perfect set of 15” Kelsey Hayes aluminum wheels with real knock offs (the
brass dead blow hammer is included with the car). The tires are new Firestone with the narrow style white walls
15” X P215/70R.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.

Use this PowerPoint when convincing your spouse to let you buy a Corvette

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

When you are not the one in charge of the purse strings, creativity is a must when trying to get the string-holder to bankroll that next shiny object you just can't live without.
When I was a kid, I decided that life wasn't worth living if it weren't in pursuit of owning a GMC Typhoon. My 12-year-old self crafted a fiscal strategy that, when combined with my offer of a 49-percent share of ownership in the car in return for my parents' contribution of 80-percent of the purchase price, would see me behind the wheel of a Typhoon by the time I hit college. They walked away from the negotiating table and, the economic climate of the 8th grade being what it was at the time, another partner wasn't found before the Typhoon was discontinued.
Roy El-Rayes, however, has succeeded where 12-year-old me failed, and he did it by using the sort of professionalism that only a PowerPoint presentation can provide, along with some humor and bold-faced flattery.
