Runs Great, New Top, Interior, And More on 2040-cars
Bellevue, Washington, United States
For sale 1964 Corvair convertible.
I own an auto upholstery shop that specializes in convertible tops and interiors. The name of our shop is Convertibles Only. We’ve purchased this car as a wintertime project to sell in the spring. The car has been stored since 1982 and has 77,200 miles on it. 2.7L/164CU/95HP engine with a 4 speed transmission. The pan gasket & lifter rod tube o-rings have been replaced. There is still a slight oil leak. New voltage regulator, new brake master cylinder, brake shoes, E-brake cable, & gas tank. The car runs & handles great. The top has been completely redone. Including painting the frame, replacing tack strips, new top lift cylinders & rebuilding the top motor and pump. The interior has been completely replaced with new seat covers, carpets, & door and rear panels. The dash is original and has no cracks in it. This is a fun solid little car. We’ve chosen to not paint it, leaving the opportunity for someone who is more expert in body and paint to finish it. That being said the body and paint are in presentable shape. No major dents, a few rust bubbles under the paint here and there but no major rust. The underneath side of the car does have surface rust probably from being parked on grass & tarped for some of its life. Again nothing major. It looks like the front nose clip & fenders have been replaced, I don’t know the history behind it. If not for the patch of blue paint on the driver’s fender, you wouldn’t know the front clip had been replaced. There is a slight rattle in the steering column but not as big distraction, nor does it affect the handling. A lead member of the local Corvair club was instrumental in knowledge & advice for restoring this car, he supports this being a solid little car. He & the previous owner are available for questions if you should be a serious buyer. I welcome that you have a 3rd party check out the car for its worthiness. If you have any questions, call Les at 206 282 5603 or email. Thanks |

Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs
Thu, 03 Jan 2013General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum. Chevy exec confirms SS production model reveal at Daytona on Feb 16
Wed, 06 Feb 2013The 2014 Chevrolet SS will make its racing debut for the 2013 Daytona 500, but the production version of the car will get its official unveiling on February 16 in Daytona, a week before The Great American Race. According to a report by Automotive News, the reveal has been confirmed by Jim Campbell, Chevy's US vice president of performance and motorsports. With the departure of the Dodge Charger, the new Chevrolet racecar will be the only competitor to feature a V8, rear-wheel-drive layout in both street and NASCAR form.
NASCAR fans will be able to see the new fullsize performance-oriented sedan on display in the festivities leading up to the Daytona 500, but the car won't go on sale until later in the year. The Australian-built Chevy SS will be a low-volume performance model, and it will be priced above the 2014 Impala, which starts at $27,535.
2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray priced from $51,995*
Fri, 26 Apr 2013After months of speculation, Chevrolet has finally revealed the official starting price of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The base MSRP for the 450-horsepower Stingray Coupe will be $51,995, while the Stingray Convertible will go for $56,995 (*both prices include a $995 destination fee). This means that the price increase from 2013 to 2014 is just $1,400 for the coupe and $2,395 for the convertible - pretty modest increases considering the upgrade in specifications. Of course, neither price accounts for the sort of dealer markup that might grace early C7 window stickers, especially since less than a third of all Chevrolet dealers will be allocated Corvette models to sell at the car's launch.
Now, these prices are for the base car, so if you're wondering how much a fully loaded Stingray will run, Chevy has given us a good indication of that as well. The coupe we saw on display at the Detroit Auto Show (shown above), for example, would run $73,360 including options such as the $2,800 Z51 Performance Package, $2,495 competition sport seats and the $1,795 Magnetic Ride Control option - just to name a few. Stepping up to the 3LT trim level that brings a full leather interior will run an extra $8,005 over the base price.
While $20,000 in options may seem like a lot, this "as-tested" price still has the C7 competitively priced against rival coupes like the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. Speaking of price comparisons, Chevrolet also points out that the C7 Stingray Z51 costs $2,200 less than the C6 Grand Sport while delivering better acceleration (0-60 mph in less than four seconds) and improved track performance (including more than 1 g in cornering).
