Clean on 2040-cars
Phoenix, Arizona, United States
I have a 1962 Corvair Monza 900 Convertible 4sp for sale. It is a complete running/driving builder type car, appears to have been an older restoration with a repaint and carpet at some point. Has the optional YN 102 HP engine. 75K miles.
Body is very straight and except for a minor ding in the drivers door is accident free. Trunk, floors, rockers, dash, doors, and front fenders are all very solid rust free. The passenger rear quarter has a patch at the top of the wheel well and is showing some bubbling. Drivers rear quarter does not have any patches but is showing some rust in the front of the wheel well. Rear sections of both rear quarters look solid. There is a hole below the rear license plate which looks like the rear bumper took a ding that broke the bracket and tore the metal which caused it to rust, would not be too hard to patch.
Previous owner purchased it from his dad who found it in CA so looks like it's been in the southwest for a long time given the faded paint and cracked front seats. Back seat is in great condition as are the side panels. All chrome pieces look very good especially around the windshield. Windshield looks perfect may have been replaced. Top looks good, solid frame and goes up and down fine. Windows are all good and go up and down great, there is one cracked wing window but it is minor. I found the original owners manual including the convertible top supplement in the glovebox.
Even has a good set of tires and a new battery. Asking $4500 obo. Am not seeing very many restorable '62 convertibles anywhere. Located in Phoenix, AZ 85032. Email is 1se7enty7@gmail.com.
Thanks,
JP

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"
Thu, 07 Mar 2013Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.
Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts
Wed, 27 Feb 2013There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.
Mother's Day Suggestion No. 2,506
Thu, 02 May 2013With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.
Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt - with similar results - around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Scroll down for the video, but know that the action really gets going at around the 1:40 mark.
