NO RESERVE AUCTION- BID TO OWN- One of the last Corvair Corsa Convertibles. Build Date November 1966-   I purchased the car from a private collector this spring. Car was stored in a warehouse with several other cars since 1985.  This Corvair comes with its running Numbers Matching Original 140 hp Engine, 4 Original Carburetors, the factory 4 speed, Bucket seats and the Corsa only Rally dash with a working Tachometer. In fact All of the gauges work but the clock and the original radio.

I just installed $800 of new parts from Clark's Corvair supply. NEW Parts include - Gas Tank & hoses, Speedometer cable, Clutch cable, Emergency brake cable, Black carpet, Driver's seat cover, Emblems, Trim and Sway bar rubber bushings.

I have included pictures of the few areas were I see some rust like the passenger door sill, around the windshield and of course the battery pan area and rocker panels.  The floor pan is solid and no rust under the rear seat either.  The A pillars are solid and all of the convertible top parts are present and functional.  The car runs and drives but it was in storage for nearly 30 years and still needs some work and a new convertible top.  I have a video of the engine running I can send by email.

Why would I sell the car so soon?  Well I also purchased a 1962 VW Convertible that is ready to paint that I plan to restore instead.  My dear wife said " pick one project and sell the other one"

I am happy to answer any questions and take more pictures upon request.

PickupTrucks.com's latest test results in a familiar winner [w/video]

Wed, 19 Jun 2013

PickupTrucks.com has gone and thrown the latest batch of half-ton pickups into a cage match to see who would come out on top. The site put the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, GMC Sierra 1500, 2013 Ford F-150, Ram 1500, Toyota Tundra and Nissan Titan through a battery of tests. Those included 0-60 miles per hour acceleration, 60-0 mph deceleration, fuel economy, a hill climb, and payload and towing. They even threw the rigs on an autocross course to evaluate overall handling. Each truck was given points based on how it scored in each evaluation.
Who came out on top? Somewhat surprisingly, the 2013 Ford F-150 walked away with the gold, though fewer than 50 points separated first and fourth place. Head over to PickupTrucks.com to read the full evaluation and the final results. You may be shocked to see exactly where some of the segment's newest additions placed. You can also watch a video on the test below.

GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.

Race Recap: 2013 Indianapolis 500 better than Bollywood; all the emotion, none of the music [spoilers]

Mon, 27 May 2013

If the 2013 Indy 500 were a movie it would be the one expected to win all the little statues come awards season, and if it were an athlete it would have made spectators watch in awe as it broke record after record. And this kind of talk comes after last year's race was considered one of the best ever - the last lap hijinks in 2012 and Takuma Sato's crash leading to a podium ceremony straight out of a Golden Globes tearjerker.
But this year's race delivered more than anyone expected, from the 250,000 fans to the commentators to the IndyCar series itself and, finally, to the guy who hopped through a two-mile window on Lap 197 to take the lead and keep it until the end.
