1965 180HP Turbo Corsa Corvair

The Corvair is a unique car and it is in great shape. It truly draws a crowd anywhere it is driven. The Corvair is stock terms of the engine, the exterior has been modified/improved with a lowered ride height, 18” custom wheels and tires & front air dam. The entire topside of the Corvair was stripped and professionally painted. The interior is in nice shape, the stereo has been upgraded along with the center console has been added. This is wonderful car and I know whoever gets it will be happy, make no mistake this is NOT a new car and will require continued maintenance. I have lots of documentation with the original maintenance records for the Corvair from the early 70’s. I believe I am the 3^rd owner of the Corvair.

Exterior:

Glass – is original, it has the normal wear, the front & rear glass was removed during painting stage and professionally installed
Body – was stripped down to bare metal and painted
New chrome bumpers, mirrors, door sills, light bezels, door handles
New custom front air dam
Bottom of the car – a protective coating was applied, it looks like the trunk had been replaced with new metal and some repair was completed to the driver side floor area

Engine:

Engine is original to the Corvair and runs well, the following items have been replaced:

New spark plugs
New spark plug wires
New fuel filter
New fireball ignition coil
High torque starter
New battery was installed w/new original mounting brackets
New fuel tank/sending unit was installed by previous owner
New alternator

Electronic igniter ignition was previously installed

Interior

Interior is great shape and was original when purchased
New interior center console for storage
Ipod ready programmable stereo & speakers

Chassis:

New custom 18” wheels & tires
Lowered ride eight with new heavy duty shocks
New lower front control arms & bushings were installed
New front & rear camber bolts
New shocks, front & rear
Full alignment completed
Brakes were rebuilt with new brake cylinders and new brake hoses
Dual master cylinder

Additional Items included in the sale:

4 original wheels/tires and hub caps, along with a spare
Spare jack
Used moldings trim and many new parts bushings, window trim etc.
Extra parts, spare used starter, dash cluster, spark plugs, wheel trim, too many items to list

Items that do not work:

Clock does not function
Wiper pump does not function, wipers do work
Tachometer functions occasionally

Watch this time-lapse build of the Chevy SS for NASCAR

There's only about a week left until we get our first look at the production version of the 2014 Chevrolet SS sedan, but Chevrolet NASCAR teams have been looking at the race version of the car all winter. Autoweek has posted a really neat time-lapse video showing just a portion of what it takes to build one of NASCAR's new Gen6 stock cars.
Though the video is quite brief, it does show almost the entire build process starting with just the car's nose, and it gives us a good look at how integral the template is to the final product. As a bonus, Hendrick Motorsports also provided some videos showing two of its teams performing pit stop tests over the winter. The second video shows some of the more detailed aspects of the racecar's rear end, including the stock-looking trunk cutout and a newly mandated rear bumper extension that will be used on super speedways like Daytona and Talladega.

GM recalling 118K Colorado, Canyon pickups over missing hood latches

General Motors has announced a recall of 118,800 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to the possibility of secondary hood latches not being installed at the time of manufacture. The affected vehicles are from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model years, all of which were built between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, these trucks fail to "comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, 'Hood Latch System.' The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch." In other words, owners of these trucks could find their vehicles' hoods opening unexpectedly while driving.
The official recall campaign is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Dealers will inspect the affected pickups and if a secondary hood latch is not present, one will be installed free of charge. Scroll down to read the official NHTSA report.

Chevy Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo concept blends the past and the future

The Chevrolet Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo is the rare concept car that salutes a seminal moment in history, yet also borders on science fiction.
Revealed Wednesday at the Los Angeles Auto Show, the concept uses the name of one of Chevy's historic racing partnerships, with Chaparral Racing, which dates to the 1960s. Chaparrals raced successfully at a range of levels, including IndyCar, Trans-Am and SCCA competition.
But the history ends there, as the concept's main purpose is as a racecar in a downloadable update for the PlayStation 3 game Gran Turismo 6.
