See the seller's listing for full details and description of any imperfections.Seller Notes:"This car has been garaged and babied for most of its existence: paint has one 1/2 inch ding on the hood; otherwise very minor marks or small scuffs--needs wax & a good buff. Has about a 1/2 inch gouge in the chrome panel at the lower edge of the driver's door--hard to see unless looking from below. Interior has been redone; seats in great shape--no damage. Carpet has minor stains. One wheel spinner cover has one of the tabs knocked off ($25 part to replace). Speedometer ticks and is unreliable above about 60 MPH (has been replaced; odometer may not reflect actual mileage). Engine & mechanical parts have no known issues otherwise."

This car gets lots of attention: it looks great, and everyone has a Corvair story to tell!

1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 2 door, 4-on-the-floor transmission
Always garaged and well maintained; gets driven very little, sadly.
Since taking ownership a few years ago: new tires, rebuilt Remington carburetors, brakes re-done, new fuel pump.
Starts right up on the first try 99% of the time and runs steady. Prefers fast over slow driving. ;) Smooth ride.

Has re-upholstered seats and updated paint. A few minor scratches or wear spots on the body, and discreet evidence of previous repairs to bodywork on lower edge of one door. Lots of original still in it, and in good shape.
Very clean engine and engine compartment
Original mileage uncertain. Odometer reads 26,000+, which I take to mean 126,000, but I'm told the parts were previously replaced, so numbers may not be accurate. Speedometer is unsteady above about 60 MPH. Makes a great excuse.

Includes all 4 wheel covers and spinners, car cover, a box of spare parts (including spare carbs), 3 new seat belts to retrofit in the back seat if desired, various manuals, and a license plate frame that says "Up Yours, Ralph Nader!" Lots of records over multiple previous owners.

Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.

Chevrolet SS previewed by Holden VF Commodore SS V show car

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

It won't be long before we see the official, production-ready Chevrolet SS sedan (hint: it will be revealed this weekend). And to tide us over until all of the official details are released about the US-spec version, we have this: the Holden VF Commodore SS V show car, a performance-oriented brother to the Calais V that debuted earlier in the week.
What we really want to know about the SS V is what lies underhood, but General Motors' Australian arm is keeping that under wraps until the Chevy model breaks cover this weekend. Nevertheless, it's obvious that the SS V will be a serious performer, with all sorts of aggressive cues driving that home on the car's exterior. Take a look at those 20-inch billet aluminum wheels that hide big Brembo brake calipers up front, the sculpted hood and front fascia, the wide air intakes with LED running lights and the quad exhaust pipes out back. It's like the Pontiac G8 GXP never even left us.
Inside, there's a sporty-looking interior with aluminum accents that mix in with black leather and suede surfaces, all tied together in the middle with an eight-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment system. It looks great, and again, while we don't know anything regarding powertrain details, it makes us oh-so happy to see a manual shifter smack dab in the middle of the center console.

Steve McQueen's last movie car, now Pawn Stars-owned, up for auction [w/video]

Sun, 03 Feb 2013

The last car Steve McQueen ever drove in a movie is officially up for auction. The 1951 Chevrolet Styline DeLuxe Convertible you see above is now owned by none other than Rick Harrison of Pawn Stars fame, but once ferried McQueen around the set of his last film, 1980's The Hunter. That flick saw the Bullit star play a bumbling bounty hunter and didn't exactly set the box office on fire. McQueen bought the car after production wrapped, and four years later it sold at his estate sale at the Imperial Palace in Las Vegas.
Flash forward to 2003, and the convertible received a full restoration back to near-stock specifications. Hagerty Insurance estimates the car to be worth around $45,000 without the significant providence. Given its ties to one of film's most popular gearheads, the old Chevrolet could fetch up to 10 times that when it goes under the gavel in Ft Luaderdale, Florida on March 22. You can head over to the Auctions America site for more information. You can also check out the trailer for The Hunter below.
