Up for auction is an absolutely beautiful example of an all original, un-restored 1971 Chevy C-10 pickup. This truck is a true one owner California black plate survivor and is 100% rust free. The floor pans, rockers, cab corners, doors, and all 4 quarter panels are solid as a rock. The paint is all original and shines well, but also shows a great patina of over 40 years of age. The body is very straight aside from several minor dents along the bedsides, one larger dent on the front of the hood on the driver's side, and a few dents on the driver's front fender. The interior is immaculate aside from a rip in the seat on the drivers side, which every Chevy pickup of the time has gotten. The headliner, sun visors, carpet, and door panels are in excellent condition. The engine has also been verified to be original to the truck and is stamped with the TBA suffix code in the serial number, verifying a 1971 Chevrolet 350 4-bolt main motor. This truck also came equipped with some very desirable factory options such as a factory 4 speed, air conditioning, power steering, tow package, cargo lamp, dual fuel tanks, Custom Sport Truck package, and the highly sought after Cheyenne Package. In addition to the factory options, this truck also has some vintage 70s add ons from the era. A vintage trailer brake, tach, secondary fuel tank gauge, and clock were added after the time of purchase by the original owner. All of the glass on the truck is in excellent condition. The truck runs, drives, and stops phenomenally and is reliable enough to use as a daily driver. The bed is in excellent condition and shows that it was lightly used throughout its lifetime. An aftermarket stereo was added at some point within the last few years and the dash was cut to install it. Included with the sale will be the original set of wheels, one still maintaining its original stainless hubcap, the original spare tire, jack and tools, and the original owners manual in excellent condition. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 415-797-2531. I can also provide additional pictures if desired. Please do not bid on this item if you do not agree to my terms of payment or if you are not able to complete payment 3-5 days after auction close. Thanks for looking.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.

GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns

Thu, 31 Jan 2013

Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray priced from $51,995*

Fri, 26 Apr 2013

After months of speculation, Chevrolet has finally revealed the official starting price of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The base MSRP for the 450-horsepower Stingray Coupe will be $51,995, while the Stingray Convertible will go for $56,995 (*both prices include a $995 destination fee). This means that the price increase from 2013 to 2014 is just $1,400 for the coupe and $2,395 for the convertible - pretty modest increases considering the upgrade in specifications. Of course, neither price accounts for the sort of dealer markup that might grace early C7 window stickers, especially since less than a third of all Chevrolet dealers will be allocated Corvette models to sell at the car's launch.
Now, these prices are for the base car, so if you're wondering how much a fully loaded Stingray will run, Chevy has given us a good indication of that as well. The coupe we saw on display at the Detroit Auto Show (shown above), for example, would run $73,360 including options such as the $2,800 Z51 Performance Package, $2,495 competition sport seats and the $1,795 Magnetic Ride Control option - just to name a few. Stepping up to the 3LT trim level that brings a full leather interior will run an extra $8,005 over the base price.
While $20,000 in options may seem like a lot, this "as-tested" price still has the C7 competitively priced against rival coupes like the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. Speaking of price comparisons, Chevrolet also points out that the C7 Stingray Z51 costs $2,200 less than the C6 Grand Sport while delivering better acceleration (0-60 mph in less than four seconds) and improved track performance (including more than 1 g in cornering).
