1965 Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe

Immaculate car inside and out.

The body is laser straight with a base coat clear coat paint called Blazing
Copper. This is a great color for this car. No bondo in this car. If there was rust thru anywhere then the door, trunk lid etc..was replaced when it was cosmetically restored just a few years ago.

The suspension was completely gone through this year. It was updated to a sport suspension with Eibach springs which lowered the car 1 1/2 inches, new Monroe shocks and Hotchkis sway bar makes the Chevelle handle like a sports car.

The interior has had the exterior color carried into the car and padded dash and new chrome dash. The new digital radio has the exact look of stock radio. New speakers and ipod connection.

The engine is a mildly built 350 with rebuilt Muncie 4 speed just added this year. The driving enjoyment just went up in this Chevelle.

Power steering, power brakes, disc up front, vented and slotted, with new dual master cylinder. The under carriage is clean. 17 inch Coys 5 spoke wheels with 225/50/17 in rear and 205/45/17 in front gives a nice stance.

It handles and stops better than new. And with the Flowmasters with the new custom Xpipe exhaust, it sounds fantastic. It starts as soon as you hit the key.

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Mother's Day Suggestion No. 2,506

Thu, 02 May 2013

With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.
Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt - with similar results - around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Scroll down for the video, but know that the action really gets going at around the 1:40 mark.
