This is a 1970 Chevelle that has been in storage since 1979. The Chevelle retains its original born with 396 350hp engine original 4 speed Muncie and original 12 bolt rear end the red paint on the car is still the original paint. The car is not running I planned on restoring it but have too many other projects so I am putting it up for sale. Some of the cars option are bucket seats, console, air conditioning and cowl induction hood.
The car was all together but had some parts removed to have what metal work had to be done there is a nos drivers quarter installed with a new rear outer wheel well also replaced was the panel behind the rear window. The repairs were done professionally just like  the the factory with spot welds. The front fenders are nos fenders and also included is a used GM cowl induction hood and the air cleaner is also still with the car. This is a original cowl induction hood the switch is still mounted to the gas pedal, the original hood was taken off many years ago. There was a patch welded in the trunk and floor it was not bad enough to have either replaced.
The interior is saddle but will need to be restored everything but the carpet is still there the only non original part on the car that i can see is the shifter has been changed. The car in my opinion needs to be restored all the metal work is done but does still need all the finishing body work.
I believe most the original parts are there except the front windshield broke taking it out there is no fuel tank most other original parts are included. I did not find a build sheet under the back seat but have not taken the seats apart to see if there is a build sheet in there.
This would be a great car to restore it was the color combination of the poster car for 1970 cranberry red with a saddle interior. any questions or for more detailed pictures call John 630 333 8333.
Will be willing to sell out of the country

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.

Veyron and C7 Corvette join cast of Transformers 4

Wed, 29 May 2013

Like the Fast & Furious franchise, the Michael Bay-directed series of Transformers movies has become known as much for its bad acting as its impressive lineup of cars. As filming just started for Transformers 4, Bay's website has confirmed two new cars for the next installment as well as a makeover for everyone's favorite tractor trailer hero, Optimus Prime.
Joining the cast of T4 are a "race-inspired" Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. While Bay's website did not supply names for either car, Bugatti is reporting on its Facebook page that the Veyron will join the Autobots. Speaking of the good guys, top Autobot Optimus Prime is getting an all-new body based on a Western Star with a gaudy appearance that was seemingly inspired by Trick My Truck - right down to the six smoke stacks and side pipes!

Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.
