I am selling my chevelle due to only putting on 500-600 miles in the last 4-5 years. I thought i would have more time than I do to enjoy it. I bought it in 2004 from a friend and it had a small block 350 in it and a 4 speed tranny. I wanted more horsepower so I had a big block stroker built in Manteca by Walt's Performance Machine. It is a 496 cubic inch big block with a retro solid roller cam setup that alone by itself was $1500+ for cam, lifters and rockers. It has Brodix heads with Girdles, guide plates, heavy duty thickwall pushrods, etc. The bottom end is completely forged and is a pumpgas motor at 10.1:1 compression. It is supposed to make around 850 HP at the crank. It has Hooker Super Competition ceramic coated headers that are a two piece design for maximum flow. It has a Holley Dominator 1150 on an Edelbrock Victor intake. Billet pulleys and brackets, high flow Victor water pump, Griffin Aluminum radiator and mechanical fan with electric backup fan also. There were no shortcuts taken when building this engine. I have approximately $16,000 in just the engine itself, not to mention the Powerglide transmission with 4500 RPM stall, transbrake and scatter shield. I just replaced the transmission cooler lines with rubber high pressure lines with the correct fittings to eliminate the transmission leak at the cooler which has a fan on it as well made by B&M. It has a ford 9 inch rear end that had been rebuilt with all new bearings and seals with 4.88 gears and has been shortened. Wheelie bars are included you will need them! The front and rear suspension has been completely rebuilt with all new bushings, ball joints, tie rods, idler arm, shocks, springs (front and rear). The brake system is hydro-boost so you dont have to worry about engine vacuum. The whole brake system has also been replaced from the master cylinder to all four brake calipers, rotors and hoses, etc. Adjustable proportioning valve also. I just bought new rear tires for it that have maybe 100 miles at most on them. They are Mickey Thompson Sportsman Radials 29 x 15.50 x 15, the front tires are 165R15. The fuel system has a Barry Grant pump I think its a 400 with a 20 gallon fuel cell and 5/8 hose from the pump to the regulator and to the carb as well. If you have any more questions feel free to call me at 209-570-0994 my name is James. The car was built origionally back in 1982 by a local guy named Dennis Van Dyke and he trailered it to a big carshow in which it took 1st place Car Craft Nationals. It has also been in HotRod Magazine and I have the edition to go along with the car. I did take it to sac raceway one time just to see what it would do. I didnt use the transbrake and took off as easy as i could so I would have traction and still pulled a 11.71 on seven cylinders cause when I burnt a plug wire just before I ran it down the track, which has been fixed since then. The car was origionally a 4 door which got shortened by 4 feet so it is rather short, it has a wheel base of 84 inches. The car is also on YouTube and can be seen at the following link. 1969 Chevelle 2 door coupe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0yqyng5lVE and here is one of it running on a backroad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ysE179eVwQ Overall I have put over $29,000 into the car as a whole. Buyers will be responsible for the shipping and or transport of the vehicle once the sale has been completed. Local pick-up is ok as well. This vehicle does have a reserve set on it, and no I won't tell you what it is by emailing me or texting me so sorry in advance.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.

Pushing Back: GM expanding Chevrolet into Korea, Daewoo out

Chevrolet Camaro goes to South Korea - Click above for high-res image
General Motors decided several years ago to begin heavily promoting Chevrolet as its global mainstream brand even in markets where its existing brands like Opel and Daewoo were a dominant force. Today, at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea, GM Daewoo president Mike Arcamone announced that the Camaro would lead the way in GM's efforts to market Chevrolet in South Korea.
For now at least Chevrolet and Daewoo-branded vehicles will coexist in the Korean market. However, while we were in China last week GM officials told us that the Daewoo brand, which has been somewhat tainted by past quality issues, would eventually be phased out in favor of Chevrolet. When the new Aveo launches next year it will likely be badged as a Chevrolet even though GM Daewoo is in charge of engineering the car.

Why the Corvette is Chevrolet's billion-dollar baby

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

Edmunds has worked up a piece that tries to figure out just how much the global Chevrolet Corvette economy is worth, a spitballed guesstimate putting the number at more than $2.5 billion with the proviso that the number is probably low. It starts by taking Corvette's new car sales of 14,132 units last year, which would equate to $714,725,900 (including destination) assuming ever car sold was a base coupe with no options. In the final tally, a little extra padding gets that number up to $750,000,000.
But that's not all. Consider this: Many of the almost 1.4 million Corvettes produced over the model's history are still on the road. There are new parts being produced and aftermarket companies like Mid-America Motorworks deaing business, that single Illinois company doing more than $40 million a year in sales. There are the Corvette events large and small, restorers who do nothing but Corvettes, salvage yards that deal only in used Corvette parts and the Corvette magazines where owners find all this stuff.
And then there are the Corvette-themed tchotchkes, every single one of which provides a tiny contribution to the huge licensing royalties that General Motors collects every year. The article admits there's no way to come to an accurate number, but it just goes to show how valuable one specific model can be to a company.
