This is a very fast car. I purchased it 6 years ago and have been working on it ever since. It has a 454 that was built by a speed shop in Denver and was dynoed at over 450 hp. I added a new high amp chrome alternator, high rpm mini starter, new Holley street avenger carburetor and a new Holley fuel pump. I have info on motor settings when was setup. It was set up for mile high so had to change some setting. It has an MSD ignition with rev limiter. The radiator is cooled with help from a large fan that can be manually adjusted, it also has a transmission cooler. The transmission is a fresh 350 turbo with a shift kit. The shifter is a B&M mega shifter. The car was completely done from the ground up but the body was not removed. It has new springs, shocks, front disc brakes and new shoes on back. The rear end is a 12 bolt positrac with 3.73 gear ratio. The exhaust is new with cross over pipe and turbo mufflers. When it starts everyone spots to look. The cam makes it sound nasty, which it is. I bought all chrome American Racing wheels so they would stay looking new. I did not go with the larger sizes stayed with 8" in the front and 9" on the rear 15". It has larger tires on the back that gives it the right stance. I also put air shocks on the back. The wheels had to made with an offset to clear wheel well in rear. The only thing I haven't changed are the bumpers. They are pretty god but new or re-chromed would be better. The Interior is all new original two tone aqua bench seat, you don't see very many with a bench seat. The head liner is new and carpet. All of the dash is new and the dash pad is changed to match the color of the seats. I had a radio shop put a pioneer radio and cd in the glove box, it has remote control. Chevy rolls out Silverado HD High Country
Wed, 09 Apr 2014It's been a good week for heavy-duty truck buyers. First, Ram revealed the Black Package for its HD trucks, then it rolled out its new Power Wagon, and now Chevy's getting in on the action with its Silverado High Country HD. Okay, so it may not pack quite the attitude of Ram's latest 2500-series offerings, but the High Country HD will come as a welcome addition to the Chevy Trucks range to those looking to pull their horse, boat or other trailer without skimping on creature comforts.
Rolled out a little under a year ago, the High Country trim is Chevy's answer to the likes of the GMC Denali, Ford King Ranch and Ram Longhorn. It has until now only been offered on the light duty, 1500-series Silverado, but now extends to the 2500 and 3500-series HD models, as well.
So what sets a High Country pickup apart from lesser Chevy trucks? You'll be able to pick it out based on its chrome horizontal grille, body-color bumpers, 6-inch tubular side steps, 20-inch chrome wheels (18-inch on the 3500 and 17-inch on the dualie) and, of course, plenty of special badging. But it's inside where the High Country makes its mark, with a cabin decked out in saddle brown perforated leather, seats that are both heated and cooled, eight-inch touchscreen with full MyLink suite, Bose audio and park assist functions front and rear to keep those color-keyed bumpers looking fresh. (Though Chevy hasn't yet showed us the interior of the HD model, it'll presumably look mostly the same as the cab in the 1500 High Country in the gallery below.)
Corvette Stingray Shooting Brake under consideration by Callaway [w/poll]
Mon, 18 Mar 2013Callaway has released a few renderings of a design study for a shooting brake version of the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The company says it wants to create a long-roof version of America's sports car to offer buyers more interior room and a vehicle with "unique style." The company says it will use structural carbon fiber for the new body bits, which suggests the conversion shouldn't add too much more weight to the Corvette. Along with a few mechanical tweaks, the Callaway Corvette Stingray AeroWagon could breeze past the 200 miles per hour barrier.
Provided that they get enough interest, Callaway estimates they will be able to effect the changes on the Chevrolet for around $15,000, and says the conversion work should be available through its network of dealers. GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say
Fri, 05 Apr 2013The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
