95 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1 Police Cruiser LT1 (Corvette/Impala SS) Interceptor

You are bidding on a blue 1995 Chevrolet Caprice original 9C1 Police Package, with the 5.7 liter LT1 interceptor (stock Corvette) engine.  Transmission completely professionally rebuilt within this past year, with about 5,000 miles left on warranty.  In fact, I spent more than $4,000 having transmission, new Flowmaster welded dual exhaust (pictures), new radiator, all new rubber, hoses, and maintenance items, new shocks, and more.  I have receipts from certified mechanic facility to show repairs & parts.  This car has been in my family for more than 10 years, driven mostly as a second car, and having been parked for a while when the transmission went out, it has relatively low (127,799) miles for its age.

Car also has a new Alpine CD/USP/iPod dock stereo in the dash.  Original black steel police rims, with classic Chevy center caps.  This car is a hot theft item (LT1 engine worth $1,000 alone), so I had professionally installed a top of the line Viper LCD 2-Way security alarm with remote start and unlock features ($500) to protect my investment.

Recent Repairs Include:

$2,612

Trans Rebuild (@120,968miles); Torque converter; Wheel sensor; Speed Sensor; Flowmaster mufflers & exhaust system installed

$645

4 New shocks; New belt & New belt tensioner

$500

Viper 2-way remote alarm, w/auto start & unlock

$350

New Radiator, upper & lower hoses

$4,107

There are a few minor mechanical repairs left to do, such as leaking oil cooling line under vehicle (about $100), and power steering fluid leaks.  Passenger side exhaust manifold is cracked.  Brakes and tires are around 50% or so, but not urgent.

Body is all original, with typical police use blemishes in finish.  No collision damage of any kind, but the front bumper cover lower valance is cracked off on the driver side (pictures), and rear bumper cover has scratches and a small gash (pictured).

This is the last of the large frame rear-wheel drive muscle cars, and the powerful Corvette engine and rebuilt transmission provide amazing power and performance.  It is truly a pleasure to drive, with unharnessed power both at take-off and high-end power on the top end on the highway.  There are not many cars that have beaten this Caprice in a friendly drag race, and I love the extra feeling of safety in such a large body and framed vehicle.  Unlike the Ford Crown Victoria or Marauder models, the Caprice Police cruiser has a solid limited-slip differential for better performance and handling.  This package was the inspiration for the Impala SS, which also has all the same extra police engine and enhancements, and they added a nice leather interior, etc.  An Impala SS will cost you $10-15,000.

I’m proud I got the car charged up and solid, and someone else can make it look pretty, or just keep it the way I did as an original police weathered with belt buckle scratches in the paint and holes in the trunk from police antennas.  I took a LOT of pictures, so please check it out thoroughly, and GOOD LUCK!

Viper LCD 2-Way Security + Remote Start System

Responder LC3 – the 3rd generation of Responder, complete with SST One Mile Range, the new Priority icons and text seen on a 20% larger liquid-crystal display, an onboard lithium-ion rechargeable battery with mini-USB recharging – all in the slimmest display remote on the market.

Features

·          LCD Screen

·          1 Responder LC3 2-Way and 1 5-button 1-Way

·          Up to 1 Mile Range

Responder LC3 – the 3rd generation of Responder, complete with SST One Mile Range, the new Priority icons and text seen on a 20% larger liquid-crystal display, an onboard lithium-ion rechargeable battery with mini-USB recharging – all in the slimmest display remote on the market.

Combining the best features of Responder with all the “New Technology Platform” advances introduced with the Best of Innovations Award-winning Responder LE, Responder LC3 systems come with one 2-Way LC3 SST one mile range remote and a companion 1-way long range remote.

Responder LC3 lets you command and monitor your vehicle like never before, with our Priority icons – simple and prioritized for easy use - plus clear text labels on the large LCD screen. With the Priority™ User Interface, the five buttons control 24 functions on each of two cars! And with the Priority Icon Map™, the most important icons reside in the center of the large LCD screen, 3 times larger than the less-critical icons positioned on the edges of the screen. It’s undeniably the most sophisticated one mile range LCD remote ever!

In remote start mode, if Active Temp Check is selected, Responder LC3 will display Temperature (in either Fahrenheit or Celsius) instead of the time (the default display). Now you can see the actual temperature inside the vehicle, before walking through the weather to get to it! If it isn’t warm enough inside your car yet, use Runtime Reset to extend your runtime. Don’t worry about forgetting about your car – Responder LC3 reminds you 3 minutes before your time runs out, with an audible tone, a vibration, and on the screen.

If anything happens to your vehicle, Responder LC3 notifies you right away if you are within range, playing the Revenger siren tones from inside your pocket. If anything has happened to your vehicle during your absence, LC3 spells out what happened when you unlock your doors: “Shock Sensor” for example.

Or you can silence your car’s siren and only be alerted on your remote, with Silent Mode2 sirenless arming. Arm your alarm with the door open and Responder LC3 will alert you – audibly and with large readable text: “DOOR OPEN”. Responder LC3 gives you an unprecedented level of control.

Only the important icons are displayed - unused icons disappear from the screen to keep the display clean and simple. “Ghosted” icons – outlined icons only without their typical solid body - indicate that you’ve changed something. For instance, while a solid padlock icon shows your alarm is armed and your doors are locked, an outlined padlock indicates your doors are locked in Valet Mode. The words “Valet Mode” appear to make sure you’re clear on the status of your car.

Some of the many New Technology Platform features incorporated into the system include:

·         XpressPort™ - Dock the Innovations Award-winning CANMAX400DEI databus interface into the Responder LC3 CPU, for a direct digital connection to virtually every new vehicle and databus architecture on the planet

·         D2D Serial Data Port – Gives installers plug-and-play connection to all the other XPRESSKIT interfaces

·         Virtual Tach – No tachometer wire connection required

·         Flex Relays Onboard for Remote Start and Light Flash – eliminates the need for additional relays 80% of the time

·         Control Center – combines the Status LED and Valet Switch with the 2-way Antenna, making the switch easy to locate, and eliminating drilling of any holes in the dash

·         Priority User Interface and Features – including SmartStart™, Timer Start, Runtime Reset, TempCheck and Silent Mode2 siren-less arming modes

Stay in touch with your vehicle at all times with Responder LC3!

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")

2014 Chevrolet SS makes its live debut

Sat, 16 Feb 2013

Chevrolet showed off the new 2014 SS in an airport hangar last night, its first rear-wheel-drive performance sedan in the US since the Impala SS from 1997. We'll have more to say about the SS later today, but this is the sedan that Chevrolet sees as the final piece in restoring its performance credentials. For those of you looking for a manual transmission, however, that wish will go unfulfilled - at least for now: the only two options buyers will have are the color and whether or not they want a sunroof.
We'll work on getting some more angles (in better light) today at Daytona International Speedway, but with fans seeing the car for the first time, we don't hold out much luck of getting a clear shot. So for now, enjoy the high-res gallery above.
