For sale: 1995 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1 Police package. I have owned this car for about 9 years and it was my college and work commuter car. I've kept it maintained with regular oil changes and other maintenance. On the negative side, it  will need some TLC to be a daily driver, please read the description. It would be a great project to tinker with, or make a race/derby car out of. But, if you have the time and space to work on it, I think it would be an easy one to make a nice driver out of.

Positives are the interior is in OK shape for a 20 year old ex-police car. The drivers door panel was a junkyard replacement that was dyed to match. The power windows, locks, radio, remote trunk release all work. The carpet is aftermarket replacement, but it does the job. The steering wheel is a NOS GM replacement and is in excellent shape. These car's are notorious for having pieces of foam missing and are hard to find in good shape. The Unity Spotlight works fine and is intact.

Parts replaced( I have most if not all receipts for) :

The front springs, upper and lower control arms with the police/taxi specific 5/8'' ball joints. These were purchased new from GM before the parts were discontinued.

Instrument cluster was rebuilt by SPECMO(where GM dealers send clusters and radio). The digital display is bright and the gauges all work. Brake system has always been maintained, and the wheel bearings were recently repacked. The car stops just fine with good pedal feel.

The starter was replaced with a NAPA lifetime guarantee re-man. cranks fine.

I replaced the Opti-Spark cap/rotor and the spark plug wires last year. Starts up and runs just fine, with some driving and maybe a new set of plugs it would run better I'm sure.

Clean Michigan title.

If you would like any additional information, please let me know, I will do my best to provide it to you.

Joe Flacco wins C7 Corvette along with MVP honors

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

As part of a longstanding tradition, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, Joe Flacco, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, was given a new car directly after the game and trophy celebrations. For 2013, that car is a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and it was presented to Flacco by Rick Flick of Banner Chevrolet, a dealership in New Orleans that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 before returning to prominence as the only Chevy dealer in Orleans Parish.
Last year, Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning took home a 2012 Corvette GS Centennial Edition. Manning also won in 2008, when he selected a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid as his reward. In 2011, quarterback Aaron Rodgers accepted the keys to a Camaro convertible.
Though we're most definitely an auto-obsessed group, we did watch the Big Game along with nearly everyone else in America. And we've gotta say, as if winning the Super Bowl and receiving the Tiffany-designed Pete Rozelle Trophy wasn't enough for the multi-millionaire MVP athletes, a brand-new C7 seems like an awfully generous prize. Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.

Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.
