1992 Chevy Caprice Classic, 2nd Owner.!! on 2040-cars

Year:1992 Mileage:170100
Location:

Stover, Missouri, United States

Stover, Missouri, United States

we are the 2nd owner of this car. purchased in April 1994. This was mainly my wife's car, then I have used it for the past 7 years as our extra vehicle. It has many little extras that were ordered on this car like the dual vanity mirrors, rearview mirror with compass and map lites, heated door mirrors,(which have been used this past winter for sure), dual power seats, and a corduroy like upholstery.(which is burgandy also). Has the Delco/Bose Silver Series AM-FM cassette, (not working at the moment), rear door windows not working, but had trouble with them off and on since I bought the car.  Some fading on the door mirror tops, and some clear coat missing from around the rear passenger door area.  The AC is in EXellent shape. Front tires have less than 10,000 miles, rear tires are just tires. A new computer was put in this car at 155,000 miles. In the photos it may show some reflections, as they were taken in NOV just after a coat of wax. Has a rusted area behind the rear drivers wheel, (look at scan), and also a small ding/dent near the left of the drivers rear wheel from a hit and run when I had it parked on a town street.  This would be a good car for a run around for someone or some people like to pimp these out with big wheels. This car gives a smooth ride.
The 1st owner had minor run in with his garage door, as he was 87,  but had it fixed by the Chevrolet dealership,(that is all we know of, and we have had this car since it was at about 19,000 miles.)   We would accept a $300.00 deposit thru Paypal, and then the balance in cash only upon pick-up. Please make an appointment with in 10 days of auction for collection. Thank you.
The car is located in Morgan County, MO. We are 50 miles SW of Jefferson City, MO,  33 miles NW of Lake Ozark, MO, and about 120 miles East of Kansas City , KS.

GM won't pay owners of recalled cars for lost value

Thu, 12 Jun 2014

Kenneth Feinberg, the man in charge of the General Motors compensation fund dealing with the its widespread ignition switch woes, has issued an informal, two-letter response to the plaintiffs in more than 70 lawsuits seeking redress for lost resale value of their Cobalts: "No." The cases were recently combined into one, but Feinberg told The Detroit News that the fund will deal "only with death and physical injury claims," and that "perceived diminished value" will get no consideration.
ALG, the firm specializing in establishing residual values, determined that Cobalt owners had lost $300 compared to the segment competition and doesn't envision any long-term effects from the recall situation. Feinberg's statement comes in advance of public details on how the compensation fund will work and adheres to GM's long-held position on the matter. The company has already asked a judge to throw out such suits using the pre-bankruptcy defense, even as it stopped using that defense in cases of injury and death.
With plenty of potential gain from the GM suit, however, don't expect the plaintiffs to give up yet. When Toyota was sued for the same reason during the unintended acceleration debacle, it eventually settled the case for between $1 billion and $1.4 billion just to get it over with. Since the 85 law firms involved in the Toyota litigation took home more than $250 million of that total, we shouldn't expect the attorneys to give up on a GM payout, either.

Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner

Sat, 24 Aug 2013

For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"

Fewer than 1 in 3 Chevy dealers earn right to initially sell C7 Corvette

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Looking to make the launch of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as efficient as possible, Chevrolet will be limiting the numbers of its dealers that can sell the all-new coupe and convertible. According to Automotive News, sales of the C7 Corvette will initially be limited to less than a third of Chevy's total dealership network when the 'Vette goes on sale this summer.
Only 900 dealers out of more than 3,000 locations nationwide will be allowed to sell the new Corvette at first, and the reason for this is so that there are no shortages at dealers that can actually get the cars sold. The article says that the 900 dealerships chosen represented 80 percent of total Corvette sales in 2012.
Some of the requirements dealers had to make to get initial allocation of Stingray sales include having sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 and having a Corvette Stingray specialist who will be required to have gone through a training session costing more than $2,000 per attendee. Once demand for the 2014 Corvette Stingray begins to subside - approximately six to nine months after it goes on sale - then allocation could open up to more dealers, but the report indicates this could happen following the 2014 model year.
