Available here is a 1966 Chevy Caprice in the Rare color combination of Aqua on Aqua. As you can see from the pictures, the interior is complete, although it needs some repairs to the seat covers and rear shelf. The car comes with an extra (used) dash pad that is in very good condition. This diamond in the rough needs a new paint job, but there doesn't appear to be any rust, except for the VERY light surface rust on the roof. The car comes with the numbers matching motor, which isn't running currently, and it comes with an extra, running big block 396. Haggerty prices a daily driver at almost $15,000 but I think that's a little extreme, and since this beauty needs some work to make her beautiful once again, I'm starting the auction at a very reasonable $4500. The buyer will have to arrange shipping, and I'll do whatever it takes to help accommodate the transportation vehicle. My Plans were to RestoMod this awesome car, unfortunately my Mother suffered a stroke a couple of years ago, and moving her into my house to care for her has been incredibly expensive. At $4500 I'm taking a loss on this awesome car, but the money I do get will go to a good cause and I'm hoping the new owner will stuff a nice LS under the hood & take good care of her. Conquest and controversy conclude the 2014 Rolex 24 at Daytona [spoilers]

For those of you still with us, the first race in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) is done, but the discussions about it certainly won't end for a while. Daytona Prototypes claimed the first four overall places, the top spot taken by the No. 5 Action Express Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Joao Barbosa, Christian Fittipaldi, Sebastien Bourdain and Burt Friselle. The 16th and final caution of the race bunched the field up for an eight-minute sprint to the flag, so the first place getter finished just 1.4 seconds ahead of the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by Max Angelelli. Third place went to Brian Friselle in the No. 9 Action Express Chevrolet Corvette DP, 20 seconds down. Chevrolet power hasn't taken the overall win since 2003, eleven years later it scores a one-two-three-four. The No. 6 Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing ORECA-Nissan 03 scored fifth place, the top LMP2 finisher.
The Prototype Challenge class win went to the No. 54 CORE Autosport team of Colin Braun, Jon Bennett, Mark Wilkins and James Gue.

GM execs fired over fraudulent India emissions testing
Mon, 29 Jul 2013General Motors hadn't had a recall in India since 1995. That changed when it was discovered that certain employees were playing tricks with local emissions testing in order to ensure passing grades for engines. More than ten GM Powertrain employees in India and the US have been let go over the ensuing emissions flap, including Sam Winegarden, VP of global engine engineering, a man who has been with the company since 1969, leading development of some marquee powerplants.
According to Automotive News, an internal investigation revealed that employees "violated testing procedures," sometimes swapping specially prepared low-emissions engines during testing regimes for the Chevrolet Tavera SUV equipped with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines. Employees were also manipulating weights in order to get vehicles placed into different emissions categories. The discovery has led to GM recall the 114,000 Taveras produced over an eight-year period and halting their production and sale.
The Economic Times of India reports that the issue is due to "a faulty component." GM has developed a solution to the issue, and once it is validated in testing and approved by the Indian authorities, the recalled vehicles will be fixed at dealers and production will resume.
