Bonita, California, United States
i have for sale my ex-military truck that was painted camoflage. i recently gave it a fresh paint job to make it look like a civilian truck. i have over 9,000.00 dollars invested in this truck with over 5,000.00 in parts spent this year. i am moving to texas soon and just have too much to move so i have to let her go. i have rebuilt the brakes, front and rear driveshafts including u-joints, and the transfer case. it has two new heavy duty batteries , new 24 volt heavy duty starter plus extra new spare one. new glowplugs and relay. new drive belts, new powdercoated rims and bfg 37 x17 inch tires. new 4 inch lift kit consisting of new leafsprings front and rear from rough county. new tachometer, new powdercoated tow package hitch, i have cleaned and painted the frame under chassis with rustproofing. it has new flowmaster mufflers with true dual exhuast. the truck has a dana 60 front end with posilock and new warn locking hubs and a 14bolt rear with positraction and 4.56 gears. i have got as high as 26 miles to the gallon at 65 mph with this truck and drove her for two years as my everyday driver with no problems. i bought it with 80,000 original miles on her but it was restricted to driving on base with max speed only 45mph. it now has just turned 102,000 and is running really strong. this truck will outhaul or tow just about any truck on the road and for this price it is a steal. i have most receipts of new parts.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray
Fri, 25 Oct 2013We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.
Mother's Day Suggestion No. 2,506
Thu, 02 May 2013With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.
Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt - with similar results - around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Scroll down for the video, but know that the action really gets going at around the 1:40 mark.
