This truck has had loads of work done.  I bought it with many improvements in place.  It has a 1990 Chevy 350 V-8 engine with fuel injection.  It runs on the computer that matches the engine, using the proper wiring harness, including a check engine light for diagnosing the engine, a serpentine belt system but no catalytic converter.  The transmission is a 700 R4 4 speed with overdrive, and it is recently rebuilt and runs smooth.  It has dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers.  The truck runs great and gets way better mileage than the original carb set up.  However, the engine could easily be changed back to a carb set up, if desired.

Power steering and power brakes provide a nice driving experience.  This truck goes down the road with little effort and no wander.  The transfer case is original, with a new seal and fluid recently installed. The engine was just gone through and given a clean bill of health with plenty of compression.  (Currently dating a mechanic of about 40 years, he wanted to make sure I am driving a very reliable rig, so he went through the engine and fixed a few minor things on the truck.  Anyone who is seriously interested in buying this truck, I will gladly have him talk with you, and he can answer any questions you may have.)  The gearing is 3:73 front and rear.  It has the big Eaton rear end and driveline.  The rear is traction lock or limited slip based upon the jacking warning decal on the back of the cab by the jack.  The truck has manual locking hubs, that were new when I bought it.  The lift is a 4" Rancho heavy duty spring lift, and the shocks are new, with duals on the front.  The tires are Pro Comp All Terrain M + S LT315-75R16.  They are mounted on aluminum Sawblade style wheels.  The interior was originally blue, but now has black carpet and upholstery.  The interior is in great condition.  The dash is pristine.  The dash remains uncut, and I had a professionally installed Custom Autosound stereo with an iPod connection put in.  They also installed Kenwood 6x9's in the doors for great sound.  The headliner and visors are in great condition.  There is a gun rack in the rear window....being Idaho, I decided to leave it.  It is a handy place to hang a hat, rope or jacket, or maybe a fishing rod.  Or, you could easily remove the gun rack.  The rear window is a slider.  The heater core was just replaced.

While this is not quite a show truck, it is in excellent shape.  There are some minor chips and dings but the paint shines.  The body is rot free.  I have spent plenty of time rolling around underneath and this truck  is in great shape.  The rocker panels were replaced before I purchased the truck.  The windows need the new weatherstripping, which I have and have not had the time to install.  All that will go with the truck.  There are two side tanks in place, but not operational.  They can be put online with a thorough cleaning and some simple fuel line adjustments.  There is already a tank switch in the cab.  I have the under truck switch to set this all up....also will go with the truck.

This truck is very dependable.  All mechanicals have been gone through and redone as needed by myself and the prior owner.  It could be used as a daily driver, but is way better looking and far more fun to drive.  I would not have any reservations about taking it on a serious road trip.  I have had many people interested in this truck, and lots have expressed interest, but many would like to see it with a bigger engine or some other setup.  A fuel injected 72 is not a common find.   It did originally have a 400, and the prior owner did the engine replacement for some reason.  But, if the buyer would desire a bigger engine, I have a 454 engine in another truck along with the Turbo 400 tranny that could be used in this 72.  It was my mechanic boyfriend's idea to combine the two trucks.  I have never known of a truck that someone did not think could be improved,  That said, I would be willing to let both trucks go to the buyer who wants them for the reserve price.  The 72 could be driven until the engine and tranny on the other truck were gone through and ready to install.  The other truck is an 89 GMC one-ton, with most of its value in the engine and tranny.  But, it is currently quite drivable itself, with its only issues being wiring ground problems from prior stereo installation by prior owner, and it is in need of serious TLC in looks.  But, the two trucks combined would be totally fantastic.

I purchased this 72 truck out of McMinnville, Oregon in 2007.  It has a state issued VIN from Washington state.  The title is clear and has no brands.  I hold a clean and clear Idaho title for this truck.  There are a whole lot of good points to this truck, but serious  interested parties would do best to check it out in person.  I will be glad to answer any questions....so PLEASE ask..... and will put you in touch with my mechanic for more specific details, as needed.   I had planned to keep this truck forever, but I am now helping to raise my granddaughters and I farm.  Sadly, I don't have the time or the use for my 72 anymore.  And I only use the 89 for dump runs.....a 454 is wasted for that use.  The 89 also has a clear Idaho title.  Contact is best by email, since I farm I often miss calls.  Give me the best way to contact you, and if by phone, give best times to call you.  Thank you.

Revisions - The listing above cannot be corrected. It will only allow me to add.  Therefore, the truck is not a Silverado, but does have Cheyenne trim on the interior.  It also does not have an Eaton rearend, but rather the Dana 60 as was original for that truck.  I apologize for the errors, but I was copying from the listing from which I purchased the truck, and it was incorrect.  Sorry for any confusion.

OK........I need to stop listening to truck people.  Looked it up myself, and the rear end is indeed an Eaton rear end.  All I know is the truck runs and handles great and has been a pleasure to own and drive.

Next-gen GM SUVs caught wearing new boxy bodies [w/video]

Wed, 15 May 2013

We recently drove the brand-new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and found it to be vastly improved compared to the outgoing model. And now that The General's pickup trucks have been squared away, it's time to focus our attention onto their passenger-friendly companions, the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon (above).
Our spy photographers have passed along a huge smattering of photos (and a video), showing the new SUVs out testing. Both the short- and long-wheelbase models were spied, and while the overall shape of the vehicles hasn't changed all that much, we expect the updates to be substantial. In addition to new powertrain options, like GM's new small-block V8, we expect the interiors of both SUVs to get massive makeovers, providing better materials throughout their cabins and quieter, more refined environments. We even hear that some trick new suspension developments may be in store for upper-end models.
Visually, these spy shots allow us to see a couple of new details on the SUVs' front and rear fascias, including LED running lamps on the Yukon and some interesting LED taillamp treatments. Of course, the obvious third party missing from this set of photos is the Cadillac Escalade, but as we reported earlier, GM is working to further differentiate the 'Slade from the rest of the fullsize SUV lineup, and is working to make the new model "much less ostentatious."

More Corvette Stingray Factoids: Vanishing panel gaps and 26-mpg LT1

Thu, 28 Feb 2013

During January's Detroit Auto Show, we managed a longer than expected wandering tag-team interview with C7 Corvette chief engineering exec Tadge Juechter (pictured above), and LT1 engine boss Jordan Lee (pictured below). They are, quite honestly, two of the very nicest bigshot lads to ever walk the engineering corridors of an American manufacturer. Both are enthralled by what they're doing for a day job. So are we.
We've followed the pre-sale anticipation for the Chevrolet C7 Corvette Stingray like an Oreck vacuum yanking every speck of dirt from a well-trampled carpet. Everything is reportable and contains a grain of further knowledge about this dramatically important and cheered-for car, as it continues to be pressured into representing all that is superior about the American dream. The Corvette wears one heavy cloak.
So, most of what was talked about has been expertly reported already right here on Autoblog. But, looking through our notes again, both Jeuchter and Lee added facts to the buzzing mix.

Officially Official: Chevrolet replaces Daewoo name in Korea

Chevrolet Camaro in Korea - Click above for high-resolution image

There once was a time when Daewoo was one of the biggest companies in South Korea. It was larger than both LG and Samsung, and second only to Hyundai. But these days the name is all but gone.
