This is a local 1970 C10  shortbed truck that is super solid and ready for your personal touch, but let me represent this truck accurately and first tell you that the paint is not as nice as it looks in the pictures, I'll explain more in a bit.  The truck is incredibly solid, I can tell that the inside rocker panel on the passenger side has been replaced so even the little bit of rust the truck had is now gone.  The truck has a lot going for it and a lot of money has been spent on it, the gas tank has been relocated to the bed of the truck to avoid the dangers of a fuel tank under you butt!  The air conditioning is complete and was working last summer but now needs a charge, new inner fenders, new steel hood, rebuilt small block motor and automatic transmission, disc break conversion, lowered, upgraded wheels and shaved taillights.  It was basically restored in a garage by an amateur and some things could be better and there are a few things that could be finished up yet like the cardboard liner in the glovebox, the door jambs are unfinished and there's no radio or speakers.  The paint looks ok from twenty or thirty feet away, (I would definitely repaint it as it looks dry and it not very straight), the tires are older and should be replaced, the bodywork is amateur and cracking in a few places, (see pictures), overall the truck is well on its way but a little tacky.  If you're looking for an expensive frame off restoration this definitely not your truck, (nor your price range), if you're looking for something that has a rock solid foundation and you can tinker with along the way and at a reasonable price then I would encourage you to come and look as it just might be exactly what you're looking for!  I have a clear open title in hand in my name and ready to transfer to the winning buyer, $500 deposit due in 36 hours of auction ending and balance due in 7 days or upon pick up whichever comes first, sold as is where is no warranties of any kind.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")
