86 Chevy C10 Custom Deluxe on 2040-cars
Moneta, Virginia, United States
1986 Chevy C10 Custom Deluxe in awesome condition. It has a 350 Motor with an estimated 370hp 4 speed transmission with granny low 4:11 gears, Detroit lockers front and rear, 4" Trail Master lift, Rancho shocks, 33" tires almost new condition, CD player, electric trailer brake controller, both 4 and 5 pin trailer hookup, sprayed in bed liner, Summit and auto meter gauges set in dash panel, dual pop up Sun Roof - passenger side leaks on front left corner during hard rains. Truck is very solid. You'll see a frame patch welded on in a photo (it's on both sides of frame) - I welded that on personally over 10 years ago when a good friend owned this truck to cover a rust hole that was approximately 1/4" in size. Weld still in excellent condition and has not been touched since. I also rebuilt the engine and installed the lift and lockers, etc. Underside and engine compartment of truck are just as clean and nice as the outside. Paint on the truck has a few very small runs in it from second owner repainting it. The inner door panels (the plastic ones) on both doors are faded, still in good shape with no cracks, just fading. Mileage is not actual, title is clear. The miles on the rebuilt motor, clutch, gears and lockers I'd estimate around 60k. Will post more photos and info as I think of it and as I'm asked. |

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works
Fri, 22 Mar 2013When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray priced from $51,995*
Fri, 26 Apr 2013After months of speculation, Chevrolet has finally revealed the official starting price of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The base MSRP for the 450-horsepower Stingray Coupe will be $51,995, while the Stingray Convertible will go for $56,995 (*both prices include a $995 destination fee). This means that the price increase from 2013 to 2014 is just $1,400 for the coupe and $2,395 for the convertible - pretty modest increases considering the upgrade in specifications. Of course, neither price accounts for the sort of dealer markup that might grace early C7 window stickers, especially since less than a third of all Chevrolet dealers will be allocated Corvette models to sell at the car's launch.
Now, these prices are for the base car, so if you're wondering how much a fully loaded Stingray will run, Chevy has given us a good indication of that as well. The coupe we saw on display at the Detroit Auto Show (shown above), for example, would run $73,360 including options such as the $2,800 Z51 Performance Package, $2,495 competition sport seats and the $1,795 Magnetic Ride Control option - just to name a few. Stepping up to the 3LT trim level that brings a full leather interior will run an extra $8,005 over the base price.
While $20,000 in options may seem like a lot, this "as-tested" price still has the C7 competitively priced against rival coupes like the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. Speaking of price comparisons, Chevrolet also points out that the C7 Stingray Z51 costs $2,200 less than the C6 Grand Sport while delivering better acceleration (0-60 mph in less than four seconds) and improved track performance (including more than 1 g in cornering).
Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1
Mon, 11 Feb 2013The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.
