Here is a nice example of a 1985 Chevrolet 1/2 ton Short Wide, and it started as a very honest NO RUST truck, so there isnt any patch work done on the Rockers or Cab Corners.  This truck drives great, and is very very tight, with no surprises.  There is about 8k on the New 350 Engine and New Turbo 350 Transmission, and the motor is equipped with Holley Carb and Intake, along with all new accessories.  The AC/Heat is All New, and this includes Compressor, Hoses/Lines, Evaporator Core, Heater Core, ect, so all is good there. The Exhaust system is also new from one end to the other, so this truck basically needs nothing, and is ready for daily use.

The Paint Job is very nice, and it is painted back to its Original Red, so there isnt any jambing or chipping issues. The Paint is completely Wet Sanded and Buffed, so it is very deep and a Mirror Finish, which gives the truck an extra clean appearance.  It has been driven since painted less than a year ago, but there are only a few really small chips, so the paint still looks brand new. The truck is Lowered 2in in the front, and 4in in the rear, really sits nice on the Original Rally wheels.  The Lowering did not affect the driving of the truck in anyway, but it looks so much better.

I chose not to put the stick on side moulding back on the truck, and if that is what you want, you can add it back on at any time.  The truck is basically original at this point, all the way down to the uncut dash for a radio, and with the exception of the truck being lowered.  The interior is very clean, and it still has the original carpet, so there might be a faded spot here or there, but it isnt noticable at all. The Power windows work, along with all the interior light and instrument cluster, so the interior is completely functional and very clean.

There arent too many of these trucks that hasnt been abused and patched up, so if you are looking for this style Short Bed, you will have a hard time finding a better example for the money.. This truck comes with a bunch of recipts, and it also couldnt be built for the asking price, so rather than take the time to find a decent example to build, you can save some serious money and time with this purchase.

Please feel free to ask any questions you might have, and I will do my best to answer them to the best of my ability.. If you need any additional pics or information, just ask, and I will get them for you asap.  There is nothing to hide on this truck, so just let me know if there is anything you might need to make in informed decision.. I have also included a YouTube walk around video link below, so do take a look at that also. I have a 100 percent rating on my Classic Car sales, along with some nice feedback after delivery, because I do my best to be as honest as possible.

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.

Watch this creative way to pull a truck's engine

Fri, 08 Mar 2013

Living in an apartment complex has its benefits, but for shade-tree mechanics who like/need to work on their own cars, it definitely has a number of disadvantages. Relatively simple tasks such as brake jobs and oil changes are difficult when you don't have dedicated driveway space, to say nothing of more in-depth repairs... like pulling an engine, for example.
For these types of challenges, a little ingenuity and plenty of muscle are needed to get the job done. Scroll down to watch these four men snatch the V8 out of a Chevrolet K1500 using nothing but a chain, landscape timber and good ol' fashioned brute strength. Good work, gentlemen.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
