1984 Chevy C10 on 2040-cars

Year:1984 Mileage:50475
Location:

After I retired I bought this 1984 Chevy p/u and made a promise to myself to restore it completely. I decided to make some modifications to the truck but not compromising his integrity. At the time I started working on the truck the odometer showed 25348 miles. As you can see on the photos I substituted the front grille with core support for one from a 1989 Chevy Suburban. This change, to me, gave a lot of better front look even more when I installed a 4MM billet grille-polished on it. Also “Euro 150MM Halogen Headlight” and “Clear Park light Lens Kit” were installed. The rear lights bulbs were substituted by a “Led Tail Light Conversion Kit” The interior cabin was set with a pair of bucket seats from a 1995 Suburban, which were provided with a new upholstery, a console was set between them. A highline w/built-in speakers was installed, along with a new sound system (Pioneer radio) and amplifier. All the interior cabin was paint (interior of both door also) with epoxy primer and then a multi purpose insulation, a heat shield kit and a molded carpet -all these from LMC- were installed. A billet instrument , dash panel and doors trim along with a new padded dash -from Classic Industries- were included too.

All suspension, motor and transmission mounts, cabin and bed mounts from “Energy Suspension” (Black Hyper-Flex Bushing Set). The engine was rebuilt and Edelbrock #350-2102 camshaft kit, designed for optimum torque from the low and to the mid-range, smooth idling cam for daily drivers was installed. Also a complete rebuilt th700r4 automatic transmission was installed..

After spending a lot more than I expected to spent, I did not pay for a good paint job but the truck is well protected against rust because I gave two coats of epoxy primer and then another two coats of 2K Urethane Primer.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.

Fewer than 1 in 3 Chevy dealers earn right to initially sell C7 Corvette

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Looking to make the launch of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as efficient as possible, Chevrolet will be limiting the numbers of its dealers that can sell the all-new coupe and convertible. According to Automotive News, sales of the C7 Corvette will initially be limited to less than a third of Chevy's total dealership network when the 'Vette goes on sale this summer.
Only 900 dealers out of more than 3,000 locations nationwide will be allowed to sell the new Corvette at first, and the reason for this is so that there are no shortages at dealers that can actually get the cars sold. The article says that the 900 dealerships chosen represented 80 percent of total Corvette sales in 2012.
Some of the requirements dealers had to make to get initial allocation of Stingray sales include having sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 and having a Corvette Stingray specialist who will be required to have gone through a training session costing more than $2,000 per attendee. Once demand for the 2014 Corvette Stingray begins to subside - approximately six to nine months after it goes on sale - then allocation could open up to more dealers, but the report indicates this could happen following the 2014 model year.

Pure Vision Design TT Camaro has 1,400 reasons to want it

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

We've talked about Pure Vision Design before, a California-based company that made waves at last year's SEMA show with its Martini-liveried, Indy-car-powered Ford Mustang. That same car later starred in a Petrolicious video we showed you just a few weeks back. The company's latest creation is a menacing car it calls the Pure Vision Design TT Camaro. Based on a 1972 model, this car shares the Martini Mustang's clean styling and obsession with details.
Unlike the Mustang, which draws its power from a mid-60s Lotus-Ford Indycar engine, the "TT" in this Camaro's name implies something far more potent. The Nelson Racing Engines 427-cubic-inch V8 has been fitted with a pair of turbochargers, with a claimed output of 1,400 horsepower. That's almost 1,000 more than the Martini Mustang.
A six-speed Magnum transmission dispatches that power to the ground, while Pirelli PZero tires are tasked with (somehow) trying to grip the road. Baer brakes hide behind those HRE rims, while JRI coilovers and HyperTech springs bless the Camaro with some degree of competency in the bends.
