1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne C-10 Factory Big Block on 2040-cars
Manhattan, Kansas, United States
Vehicle Title:Clear
Make: Chevrolet
Drive Type: AUTO
Model: C-10
Mileage: 74,000
Trim: CHEYENNE
1972 Chevrolet Cheyenne C-10. Factory 402 big block/400 transmission. A/C, power steering, power brakes. Truck runs and drives great, transmission shifts nice and firm, will chirp the tires when shifting into 2nd under acceleration. The engine starts right up, doesn't smoke and idles great. Someone has put HEI ignition on the truck sometime in the past. Engine number on the front pad is 10405TLM. A/C blows cool, but not cold, could use a charge. Truck is straight, but does have some rust and dings as you can see in the pictures. Looks like it was restored several years ago and looks like the truck was orange from the factory. If a person was going to restore this truck, I would replace the left door. The door has quite a bit of rust and the lock cylinder hole is damaged. The rockers and cab corners have the usual rust. Bed has some rust, but can be repaired easily. Paint still shines decent as seen in the pictures. Truck looks great with the 8" rally wheels and new 255/70/15 Cooper tires. Truck has dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers and sounds great. Interior is all there and is in good shape, has an aftermarket cassette player that works, but is just static and no music (haven't looked into it) and dash is not all cut up. Headliner is falling down a little bit, the door panels are in good shape, but someone put speakers in them. Also dash pad and dash are in great shape. The carpet is good, but a little dirty and the seat is in good shape. All of the glass and trim is in good shape. I have set the reserve at what I feel is a great price for a factory A/C, big block Cheyenne that doesn't need much to be a very nice truck or just a nice truck to enjoy and drive. I am sure there is something I am missing, or if you have any questions or need anymore pics, please feel free to call or text me at (785)341-1759, my name is B.J.

Chevrolet planning low-cost Corvette under Stingray?
Wed, 27 Feb 2013If you're burnt out on musings about the Chevrolet Corvette, you'll want to go ahead and skip this post. Motor Trend reports General Motors is hard at work on a low-cost version of the seventh-generation sports car for 2015. Rumored to be called the Corvette Coupe, the car will forgo the Stingray and skip the 450-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine in favor of a 5.3-liter V8 with under 400 ponies. If you're keeping track, that's a shade of the same engine found behind the headlights of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.
The report also suggests the Coupe will receive a number of aesthetic tweaks to separate it from the Stingray, including different front and rear fascias as well as new front fenders and a rear diffuser. Motor Trend says the point of all this is to cut the car's price tag, which means we may see a Corvette on showroom floors for less than $50,000 if this car comes to fruition.
Diesel Power finds the ultimate modified oil-burner
Sat, 24 Aug 2013For nine years, Diesel Power magazine has run the Diesel Power Challenge, this year's grindfest being "a week-long torture test that features seven events, nine trucks, 8,000 horsepower, and nearly 15,000 pound-feet of torque." The road to being crowned "the most powerful truck" starts with a dyno run, and then continues through the completion of a CDL-style obstacle course, an eighth-of-a-mile drag race while towing a 10,000-pound trailer, a quarter-mile drag race without a trailer, a fuel economy test in the mountains and finally a sled-pulling test through a 300-foot-long packed-mud pit.
What kind of trucks get into such a fight? Last year's winner, for instance - who upgraded his truck this year to prove he didn't "luck into the win" - drives a 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty with a 6.4-liter Power Stroke V8 upgraded with a custom intake, Elite Diesel triple turbos and a two-stage nitrous system. Another competitor has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 powered by a 5.9-liter Cummins inline-six, upgraded with Garrett turbos, dual-stage nitrous, a seven-inch exhaust stack and twin fans built into the bed to cool the Sun Coast Omega transmission. The numbers on that truck: 1,255 horsepower, and 2,063 pound-feet of torque at the wheels. Naturally, as the image above might suggest, things don't always end well.
You'll find all five videos covering this years challenge below. A scene in the dyno video sums it all up perfectly: a competitor leaves his nitrous on too long and the crew is treated to some ominous poppings, he leans out the window, throws both hands up and shouts, "Amer'ca!"
Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes
Wed, 31 Oct 2012It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
