Looking for an inexpensive, low optioned, get in and go truck? This may be the one for you.

This is a 1971 GMC 1500 series 1/2 ton, two wheel drive pick up truck. It is a small block Chevy 350 V8 with the reliable TH350 automatic transmission. It is a pretty no-frills truck, it has power sterring and power brakes, about all you really need as far as options on these trucks.

The 350 engine has an aftermarket carburetor, Edelbrock I think, headers and later model HEI ignition system. Starts right up and runs down the road with no issues. It does have a typical annoying header gasket leak but don't they all. The coolant system is in good working condition and the engine does not smoke or rattle. The power steering pump does groan some when doing a hard turn. The transmission shifts out like it should going down the road, no issues there.

The interior has seen better days but is still all there. The windshield is cracked, of course. Wipers and lights work. It has an aftermarket CD player of some sort, not really my area. The steering wheel is cracked.

The body shows the trucks age. The rocker panels need replaced, floors near rockers need work. It has a Chevrolet tailgate that opens and closes, the tailgate is rusted at the bottom, but it has a tailgate. Has a good rear work bumper. The passenger door has been replaced and the passenger fender is an aftermarket that never was painted and is showing surface rust. It has a chrome front bumper, not the best but it does have one. There does not appear to be any rust through on the interior part of the roof above the windshield.

The wheels are aftermarket Hurricane style, really popular in the 80's and are a matching set. It has good tires front and rear, two different brands, but still very good tires.

We started to throw a quick satin black paint job on it but decided to just let everyone see exactly what they were getting, no cover-ups. This is just a good old get in and drive truck. It is not fancy, it needs work, but it is a truck that you can use to work with. Not like you would worry about scratching the paint now is it? It would be a good shop truck, work truck or just something to beat and bang around in. Put that kid in it and turn him loose, if he tears it up, it is cheap to fix.

To make the deal even better, i will throw in a new set of rocker panels and a new pair of header gaskets for the winning bidder. Just trying to help. Thanks.

Callaway debuts its new C7 Stingray at National Corvette Museum

Fri, 02 May 2014

Callaway showed off its first tuned version of the 2014 Corvette Stingray at the National Corvette Museum last week, giving the rampant enthusiasts of America's sports car a look at the roughly 620-horsepower, supercharged rocket.
Unlike the Corvette SC610 we showed you back in January, this Stingray packs a fair bit more oomph. Horsepower is only up ten ponies, but torque has jumped from 556 pound-feet to "at least" 600 pound-feet. Neither horsepower nor torque is official quite yet, although Callaway is expecting to know just what its creation can do once testing and validation is completed later this month.
The 6.2-liter, supercharged V8 now boasts a new, three-element intercooler, which Callaway claims only allowed the inlet air temperature to increase by ten degrees Fahrenheit during dyno runs. Previous designs saw a 35-degree-Fahrenheit jump. The exhaust system has also been fettled with, and now is even less restrictive.

Why Cadillac thinks it needs to succeed in Europe to sell cars elsewhere

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Ward's Auto has taken an interesting look at the renewed focus General Motors is showing towards Cadillac in Europe. Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe (pictured), says in order for the luxury brand to thrive in China, it first needs to succeed in the old country. The reason? Chinese buyers look to Europe for cues as to what's deemed worthy of the term "luxury." There are hurdles to the plan, however. In addition to the fact that the EU is flooded with high-end nameplates, GM doesn't necessarily have the distribution network in place to put buyers behind the wheel.
Combine that with persistent economic woes and Cadillac's checkered past marred by a lack of diesel engine options and a bankrupt distributor, and the road ahead for the brand looks like less of an uphill climb and more like a straight-up cliff face. But Docherty is optimistic and says she has a plan for the brand. We recommend heading over to Ward's for a closer look at the full read.
