1969 Chevy Pickup Truck C-10, Rebuilt 350 W/ Performace Parts, Long Bed, 17's on 2040-cars

Year:1969 Mileage:87991
Location:

Anacortes, Washington, United States

1969 Chevy C-10
Nice classic truck. Drives straight. Cool looking 17" wheels I've never seen anywhere else. Power steering is light and easy to drive. Plenty of power.
Heater works, no A/C.
Has a towbar and the hookup to power trailer braking.
Has classic vehicle plates so no paying for tabs.
Long bed can hold a lot, fits a queen mattress.
Speedometer is inaccurate. Gas gauge works I guess but I wouldn't completely trust it. Temp gauge seems to work fine, doesn't overheat. Made a 300 mile road trip recently without any issues.
New brakes, manual drums, require more effort there power brakes but not by too much. Stops fine.

Interior:
Steering wheel is unoriginal, but has a decent feel to it. Bench seat is worn. Newer carpet. Stereo is newer with bluetooth, powers on, no speakers. Metal in both door frames was replaced due to rust.

Engine:
Engine runs great. Not too loud and has a good sound. Was professionally rebuilt a few years ago (have paperwork). I don't know the actual miles, odometer says 87,991, but rolls over at 99,999.
Takes a couple pedal pumps to start when cold, will start without pumping if driven earlier that day.
Judging by the distributor parts, the engine could be a 350 from the late 70's, early 80's vintage, but I don't know for sure, it could just be a newer HEI distributor.
Has 4 barrel carb, edelbrock intake manifold, cam, headers and full dual exhaust.
Tune up just done: air filter, spark plugs, wires cap, rotor, oil change.

Transmission:
Turbo 400 transmission. 3 speed. Mileage unknown. Shifts smooth. Recent Fluid and filter change. Appears to have a leak where a cable goes into the side (maybe needs a new gasket). Seems to leak until a pint low and stay there.

Body:
Straight body overall, the only noticeable dent is in the corner of the hood (pictured). The paint doesn't look very good up close. It looks like a rattle can job. There is bits of surface rust throughout. The frame looks fine. There is rot in all 4 corners under the cab (pictured).
Has a towbar. No rear bumper. New locking gas cap. Tailgate opens nicely.

C7 Corvette turbo with 1,000 horsepower promised from Hennessey

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

If you can't wait for the next-generation Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, Hennessey says they will have you covered. The Texas-based company has announced it will offer a spate of upgrades for the 2014 Corvette ranging from a range of bolt-on options all the way up to a 1,000-horsepower, twin-turbo system. Buyers can start with a cold air intake, cat-back exhaust or stainless steel long-tube headers, but Hennessey says it will also offer up three stages of forced induction mayhem should those bits and baubles not provide enough thrust.
Those choices start with a supercharger system good for up to 700 hp, though Hennessey will gladly ditch the blower in favor of two turbos. Doing so will spin the crank to the tune of 800 horsepower all the way up to a certifiably ludicrous 1,000 ponies. There's no word on how much these tricks will cost you - or when they will be available, as we're guessing they haven't gotten their hands on the car yet - but you can head over to the Hennessey site to drop them a line if you're curious.

GM recalls 8,500 Chevrolet Malibu models for rear suspension glitch

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

According to a letter from General Motors to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, flaws in the build process of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu have led to the recall of 8,519 cars. Units built between December 6, 2011 and January 15, 2013 may have been assembled with rear suspension cradles that had insufficient torque applied to certain bolts. That out-of-spec assembly could lead to issues ranging from slight noises to a loss of vehicle control.
The problem was first noticed in December of last year by a GM test fleet driver and eventually tracked back to the improperly torqued bolts on the suspension cradle assembled through July 2012 by a supplier located not too far from the Malibu's Detroit/Hamtramck Assembly Plant. Since an official NHTSA recall notice has not been issued yet, it isn't clear whether or not Detroit-built Malibus were the only ones affected (the 2013 Malibu is also built at GM's Fairfax Assembly Plant in Kansas City, Kansas). Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting vehicles for proper torque specs, retightening if not within specs and, in some cases, perform a rear-wheel alignment.

GM 6.2L V8 claims most powerful light-duty truck engine title

Thu, 12 Sep 2013

General Motors has officially captured the horsepower crown for mainstream pickup trucks with its 6.2-liter V8. The big mill, available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, comes to market with 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, handily outdoing its two cross-town competitors, Ram (5.7-liter V8, 395 ponies and 407 lb-ft) and Ford (6.2-liter V8, 411 hp and 434 lb-ft).
The new GM 6.2 will take a bit of an investment, though. Those that want the extra thrust will need to go with either the LTZ or High Country trims from the Chevy, or the SLT and Denali trims from GMC, which are the two highest trim levels for the respective vehicles. Trim levels aside, if you're in the business of towing, GM has you covered. Optioned with the 6.2-liter V8 and the Max Trailering Package, owners will be able to pull 12,000 pounds, a hugely impressive figure.
We still aren't certain as to what sort of economy the new engine will get, but it'll probably be a bad bet for the fuel conscious. As for availability, expect to see the 6.2-liter trucks in showrooms later in the fall.
