Hi, and thank you for looking at my beautiful custom street rod, gem of a truck. I'm going to try to give as complete of a description, as I can,  so as to make your purchasing decision, a lot easier. First off, I have owned this truck for about 10 years, and I am the the 3rd owner. This truck was born in Fremont, California with a six banger and three in the tree as standard equipment. It has the small "Gangster Rear Window", which is rare, because they only made these for 1/2 of a year in 1967. The first owner, owned the truck for 31 years, and the second owner had it for 5 years. This owner did all the custom work on the truck and he worked on it for 4 1/2 years. I bought it 6 months later. The truck has the original owners manual and warantee protecto-plate. The builder installed a 1971 350 truck (new crate) engine, and 1972 truck running gear. The top is chopped 3 1/2 inches, front is lowered 4 inches, and rear is lowered 6 inches. You will note that the windshield is lowered into the crowl w/ hidden wipers. This is the standard windshield  for the truck, as well as all the other glass. Nothing had to be cut. Because so much time and expense was involved in building this incredible piece of work, I'm going to generalize the other features that were added to the truck. Here goes: power steering and brakes, tilt steering, and all dash treatments all trimed in brushed aluminum. Vintage air, Auto Loc opening for the doors from your key fob, Accel  electronic distributor and wires, B&M Pro ratcher shifter. On top of the engine sits a Weiland intake manifold and on top of that sits a Holly 4 barrel. Holly has also provided the electric fuel pump and regulator. The engine has a Comp cam, and Sanderson Street Rod Ceramic Headers, and timing gears made by Dynagear Inc. Under the truck, Eibach provides the springs, and I installed Edelbrock Air shocks in the rear for a nice ride. I have all the instruction books and such for all items mentioned so I know that they were installed on the truck. I have tried to be as exact and honest about this beautiful truck, but if you have any futher questions, I will be happy to try to answer them for you.  You're thinking, why am I selling? I have owned this truck for almost 10 years, and haven't put over 300 miles on it.  Truck is also for sale locally. Again, Thanks for your interest.

Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war

Sun, 30 Dec 2012

A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?

Pushing Back: GM expanding Chevrolet into Korea, Daewoo out

Chevrolet Camaro goes to South Korea - Click above for high-res image
General Motors decided several years ago to begin heavily promoting Chevrolet as its global mainstream brand even in markets where its existing brands like Opel and Daewoo were a dominant force. Today, at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea, GM Daewoo president Mike Arcamone announced that the Camaro would lead the way in GM's efforts to market Chevrolet in South Korea.
For now at least Chevrolet and Daewoo-branded vehicles will coexist in the Korean market. However, while we were in China last week GM officials told us that the Daewoo brand, which has been somewhat tainted by past quality issues, would eventually be phased out in favor of Chevrolet. When the new Aveo launches next year it will likely be badged as a Chevrolet even though GM Daewoo is in charge of engineering the car.

Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
