Minty 4x4 K5 Blazer with 461 BBC -- *MUST SEE*

Overall Description
Near immaculate, laser straight 1991 4x4 K5 Silverado Blazer. One of the nicest, cleanest, built K5's you will ever see. Absolutely rust free, bondo free, accident free and damage free. This has always been a southern truck and has never seen mud, snow or salt. It has rarely seen rain and has never been off-roading. This truck is a beauty and gets comments daily. You can't park anywhere without someone coming up to admire and comment. Professionally built 461 BBC engine with less than 1,000 miles that runs like a top, not some junk yard salvage project. This truck was built with reliability and everyday drivability as priorities. Unlike many Blazer projects, this one is not "over the top" with hood scoops, crazy tire sizes, ear-bleeding subwoofers.

1991 was the last year this generation full-size Blazer was made. Only 7,332 were produced.

Highlights: 461 cubic inch BBC with true dual 3" exhaust, Performance 700R4 transmission, 4.56 gears, 4 inch suspension lift, 35 inch tires. See below for the details.

The only reason I am selling this K5 is because I need a pickup truck. And I feel the truck is just too nice to be exposed to the midwest weather elements.

This Blazer started out immaculate (rust and damage free) and then the build was started. This Blazer build is different from the rest because it started out in near perfect condition. This truck has more than $30,000 invested in the build and is well documented.

I have a thick book of receipts, history and information for the work done on this truck.

I have a clear and clean title in hand. I have registration proof this is a southern truck. Prior to the resto-modifications, this truck had approximately 140k rust-free miles. This was not a frame-off restoration because it was simply not needed.

If you have any questions, please email me. This awesome truck is destined for someone who appreciates the truck as a solid build, done right and is not a back-yard hack job. So if you call, please be serious and not just a tire kicker. Thank you.

Power Train
Engine: Professionally built 461 cubic inch BBC (454 cu in bored 0.030 over) with serpentine belt for accessories. I have the build sheet. Has less than 1,000 miles on it.

Camshaft: Summit Racing SUM-K1301. Duration @ .050: 218 int/228 exhst, Lift @ valve: .500 int/.500 exhst.

700R4 professionally rebuilt and upgraded for performance and reliability, rated to handle 500 HP with less than 1,000 miles on it. Upgrade includes a Corvette servo for firm shifting, banner kit, Beast sun shell kit and drain plug. New stock torque converter with painless wiring lock-up kit.

Transfer Case: NP241

Body:
Rust free, white paint in very good condition. The blazer has been painted a 2004 Toyota White (paint code 040). This paint was professionally applied, not a garage hack-job. The fiberglass top was sanded smooth to remove the small bumps and painted to match the body. The cap has never been off the body.

Suspension:
4 inch suspension lift by ORD (Off road design) with shackle flip. ORD is recognized as a leader in quality GM lift systems and no blocks were used. The lift gives the K5 the perfect stance while maintaining drivability and handling at highway speeds. Rancho shocks (less than 1000 miles) all the way around.

Bumpers:
Custom fabricated winch front bumper, one of a kind. Rear bumper has A-frame, swing-away spare tire mount, custom fabricated also. Exceptionally sturdy and handles the 35 inch spare tire with ease. I also have the original factory chrome bumpers (rust free) with original mounting hardware and tow hooks.

Brand new, never used Warn 12,000 lb. winch.

Factory steering with brand new drag link, tie rods and Rancho steering stabilizer installed.

Five as-new (less than 1000 hundred miles) 35x12.50x15 Cooper Discoverer ST all-terrain tires on Mickey Thompson Classic II wheels with locking lug nuts, including spare tire.

Axles:
Warn manual locking hubs installed to replace the factory junk auto locking hubs.
Front axle is GM Corporate 10 Bolt with 4.56 Yukon gears.
Rear axle is GM Corporate 10 Bolt with 4.56 Yukon gears and Eaton Posi Limited Slip.

Brakes:
Stainless brake lines. Calipers, rotors, pads with less than 1000 miles. New master brake cylinder.

Interior:
New grey and black interior including carpets, seats, and custom side panels in rear and bottom of doors. No rips, tears or stains.
Prior to replacing the carpet, the rust free floor was sprayed with bed liner. The console in between the front seats is 100% crack free (a rarity). The interior has remained smoke free, pet free and french-fry free.

Air Conditioning / Heat:
Original air conditioning R12 system replaced with modern R134a system. New compressor last month.
Heat works well.

Instruments:
All gages and lights are functioning, all power windows (regulators recently replaced) and door locks function as they should. Turn signals, horn, wipers, etc. all work fine.

Sound:
Complete system installed and functioning perfectly includes Pioneer DEH-P6200BT head unit with bluetooth, XM/Sirius tuner installed for satellite radio, JBL 6 1/2 " speakers up front, JBL 6"x9" speakers in rear, JBL 8" sub in rear and an Infinity Kappa five amplifier.

Battery:
Optima "Yellow Top" less than one year old, less than 1000 miles on it

Pushing Back: GM expanding Chevrolet into Korea, Daewoo out

Thu, 29 Apr 2010

Chevrolet Camaro goes to South Korea - Click above for high-res image
General Motors decided several years ago to begin heavily promoting Chevrolet as its global mainstream brand even in markets where its existing brands like Opel and Daewoo were a dominant force. Today, at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea, GM Daewoo president Mike Arcamone announced that the Camaro would lead the way in GM's efforts to market Chevrolet in South Korea.
For now at least Chevrolet and Daewoo-branded vehicles will coexist in the Korean market. However, while we were in China last week GM officials told us that the Daewoo brand, which has been somewhat tainted by past quality issues, would eventually be phased out in favor of Chevrolet. When the new Aveo launches next year it will likely be badged as a Chevrolet even though GM Daewoo is in charge of engineering the car.

Chevy gets cracking on Cruze EV fleet testing

Chevrolet Cruze EV - Click above for high-res image gallery
The Chevrolet Volt hasn't yet gone on sale, but General Motors is looking at ways of expanding its electric vehicle lineup. Chevy, along with partner LG, is employing a group of all-electric cars in the form of the Cruze. The sedans are part of a demonstration fleet which is located in Seoul, South Korea and is being used to provide data in an electric vehicle research project. The goal is to gather information on driving patterns and charging behavior in addition to consumer acceptance.
The Cruze EVs, along with some Daewoo Lacetti Premieres EVs, are the first fleet of full-size electric vehicles and should provide invaluable information for The General. Staying full-size means not sacrificing cargo space, so the battery pack is mounted to the underbody, leaving the trunk area open for plenty recyclable, canvas grocery bags.
